I’ve heard of a few (legal) work-around solutions if used strictly for non-commercial flying. Anybody know the scoop or where to get it? I’m looking at buying one that has plenty of calendar time left, but not hours.

Even if you mange to somehow get around the FARs you will have a tough time finding an insurance company to cover you. Even if you mange to insure it, it could still blow up if you are ever in an accident.

why you wanting the 22 when you have that nice 269a?

I have a guy wanting to trade...investigating the proposal.

The loophole is in the calendar life, you can fly it past the 12yr overhaul requirement but not past the life limited component times. At least as far as I've understood it.

We covered a similar question back in 2011. The post was titled "R22 Airworthiness past 2200 hrs."
