Astro Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I heard that DHL has been using helicopters to deliver documents in LA and New York, and now are expanding to Chicago? Anyone know anything about this? Quote
aussiecop Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I do know that they do the delivery routes in the the first two. Not sure on the Chicago expansion though, although it makes sense. I could see Atlanta and some other traffic snarled metro areas it making sense as well. Quote
iChris Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) I heard that DHL has been using helicopters to deliver documents in LA and New York, and now are expanding to Chicago? Anyone know anything about this? Aris Helicopters had a similar contract during the mid eighties with FedX out of San Jose and Los Angeles using the AS-350 and S58T. aeroscout Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 One nice thing about flying cargo...boxes don't bitch ! Quote
eagle5 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 No, but customers and your boss sure do if those boxes aren't delivered on time! Quote
apacheguy Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Helicopter is the only way to get around in LA or the SoCal basin. It's crowded airspace but beats the crap out of sitting in traffic... Quote
aeroscout Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Helicopter is the only way to get around in LA or the SoCal basin. It's crowded airspace but beats the crap out of sitting in traffic...It never rains in southern California. But no one ever walks anywhere just in case it does. Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I suspect the reason nobody walks there is the same as why they don't walk in Houston. It's too hot, everything is too far away, and there are few if any sidewalks. Walking is just not feasible for most destinations. Walking is a great way to get around in some cities, but some seem to actively discourage it. Suburban sprawl is not necessarily a good thing. Quote
