Gideon
So I ship out for Basic training at Fort Benning September 25th which puts graduation around December 8th. My WOCS class won't start until January 4th so I was curious as to what the month or so between basic and WOCS would look like, would I be given leave or assigned some odd jobs for that month?
MuffinMan
You'll be allowed to take some leave during the Holiday block leave if you want to use it. Not mandatory. There will be some random details that need to be done occasionally and we'll have morning PT. You'll be treated like an adult for the most part compared to BCT. I went to BCT at Benning and have been here waiting to go to WOCS since 4 August last month. If you have any questions about BCT or WOCS or Fort Rucker, send me a PM and I'll be happy to help. GSDinDC
This is a good question... I'm attending the prior service BCT in Sep with a projected graduation near the end of Oct. I'll have a couple of months at Fort Rucker before my Jan WOCS class. Does PT and random details fill a full workday up? Will it be possible to move my wife and household down before WOCS? I know several people who were completely moved before WOCS.

Currently we're doing PT from 0530-0700 and then back to HHC from 0900-1630 with lunch from 1130-1300. This is likely to change in some way before you get here, possibly a couple times. You should definitely be able to move your wife down before WOCS since you'll have so much time. The BEST way to make sure this happens is at BCT when you get your orders. Make sure your orders say "Dependents: YES". I had to have my orders re-written because they were incorrect from BCT and this happens more often than not.
