WOFT Reset regarding 20yr Retirement

Recommended Posts

Need some CWO advice for the New Year. No recruiter will know the answer.

Two points

1) Must have 10yr Active Federal Service (AFS) in retiring as a Commissioned Officer unless waived by the Secretary of the Army. Must be a CW2 in holding a Commission. W1 are issued Warrants not Commissions.

2) Maximum of 8 years AFS by WOFT applicants. Waivers can be approved.

If enlisted members apply to the WOFT program at the 8yr point, will they retire as a W1 or CW3 at 20yrs? They won't be promoted to the commission ranks until serving at least 11.5-12yrs.

By the way, enjoy the New Year.
