Backing out with a pedal turn is often the only way to depart. Sometimes, even downwind. Managing the conditions is paramount but, over time, they become a matter of routine…….. So I'm guessing maybe a passenger then suddenly pushed the cyclic forward, then he yanked it back? Either that or it was a very rushed and sloppy touch and go! Doing a pedal turn to downwind, and away from the pad, would not be the prudent thing to do.
