rotor91
Greetings ALL! I was going to the beach on Sunday in S. Redondo, and saw LA City Fire newest addition the AW 139........very NICE! They were heading north bound at about 200 agl......took off my headphones, just to listen to the sound of those engines! Seemed a bit nose high in S & L flight, looked like around 80-100kts. Either way....beautiful machine! RobR91

Goldy
Hey Rob- I saw it for the first time about 2 weeks ago doing some IFR work out of Camarillo...got invited to go check it out last week at their station. It is soooooo quiet starting up I couldnt believe it. One of the 412's landed just prior to the 139 starting up....difference in noise level was night and day. Anyway, I got connections there if you ever want to fly up and go check it out. Also, we now have 2 Super scoopers, 2 Aircranes, and a Carson 61 ship all for firefighting...looks like a blooming airshow at VNY right now !!! Goldy (added) oh yeah, forgot to mention, us taxpayers paid $12M for that ship as equipped. Edited September 4, 2008 by Goldy

FlyNHighNFast
Pictures of the ship. Courtesy of another flight with Goldy a couple weeks ago. My real camera was home in NC. So the iPhone's crappy one had to do.
FlyNHighNFast
A shutter delayed shot as we came in over the Aircrane at VNY.
FlyNHighNFast
A trip to TOA would not be complete without a picture of (the only)one of these.
Goldy
Marlon- That Aircrane shot actually came out kinda cool. I found my camera, so I will upload a couple close up pix of the LAFD 139 here in a day or two. Good seeing you again. Goldy

If you can get a few shots of the inside of the 139, that would be awesome.

palmfish
Hey Brian I saw your ride at Bob's last week with all the goodies removed. Whattup with that?? Hi Emily. Yeah, a 300 hour service came due a couple of weeks ago (I've been flying a loaner from another office for the past 2 weeks). The toys were removed back in July to save weight for mountain flying this summer. I'm back in town now and the toys are back on. See you around! Skidmark
Off topic but that R-66 is extremely ugly, I can't get over it.
