Goldy Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I'm considering buying another ship, this time either a Bell 47 or an S269/300C/CBi and keeping it at WHP or BUR. Just wondering if there are any LA based VR members or lurkers that would be interested in flying some and building some time in something other than an R22. Of course, if you need an R22 I can cover that as well! So send me a PM or an email if you would be interested. Quote

adam32 Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 What model 47? No interest in an Enstrom huh? Quote
Goldy Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 What model 47? No interest in an Enstrom huh? My mechanic says no to an Enstrom...that will cause some controversy I'm sure. I was looking at an F28C2 for sale, but he prefers the 300. I am also looking at 47-G5A now that Scotts has some new main rotor blades coming available. I used to fly a 47G2, so a G5A would be a nice step up.. Quote

Whats the ETA on the Scotts blades? Are they going to be affordable? Quote

Don't have an exact date, but I know they are in the works so that made me more comfortable with a ship and metal blades that time out! Define "affordable" !!! Quote

GmeisteR Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 $200K for main rotor blades? lol someone must be outs there mind haha course maybe thats just coming from a poor college student mind frame lol Quote
Trans Lift Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I thought it was more in the region of $300k that Bell wanted for them. I would go with a 300C Goldy, 47's are cool and all but cost too much for parts, etc. I'm just a fan of the 300 for training. They can be a dog on maintenance too when they get up to around 1500 hours! Quote

Goldy Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Goldy, did he give any particular reason why? He just doesnt have any of the tools or experience on the Enstrom line. He would prefer not to learn on my dime, which I appreciate! As far as the new 47 blades, I think Scotts is selling them for 65K each now, or 130K for a new set......but wait there's more. I spoke to them at HAI and they are close to a deal with an unnamed company to make new composite blades for the 47...how cool would that be? AND this particular company has a great reputation with their current blade designs...AND they sell those composite blades under Bell's market value AND their initials are VHA. Oops. Quote
adam32 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Still $130k is way to much when you can get a complete good timed 47 for under $200k...the Van Horn blades would be cool if ya had money to burn Quote
mechanic Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Goldy,My favorite 47 models in the looks department are the G5A and the H1What is it you do with the heli's? Lease them, Rent them??? I wish my biz would get stabilized so I can get back into the air.I had to knock the dust off the sim the last few days. .... Quote

I suddenly am looking at Enstroms again! This one would be used for flight training for some bigger boys in LA. Quote
rollthbns Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Awesome! I am sure you will keep that bird busy Goldy. I was one of those "bigger" folks when I started too. I topped the scale at 270 on my first day of training. When I finally lost all the weight I needed to, I was out of money and had my ratings, so I stuck with the 300C. I personally prefer the C to the other 300 models out there. Just my opinion though! Quote
