Figured somebody has to start it.

No pilot courses for me this year; gonna do the Helo Accident Investigation class (as a refresher) & SMS Manual Workshop. Would have really liked to fork over $2500 & signed up for the ISBAO Auditor accreditation, but that'll have to wait a bit. Til I really, really can justify the $$.

Gotta find my VR pin & git'er all polished up.

Any suggestions for VR M'nG location/date/time? Anybody flying in?

Any SoCal types heading up the 15?

Hey Buddy!

I'll be driving down from Mammoth that weekend (on official business....so I can do it in record time!), then catching a SWA flight out of Burbank Sunday night. I'll be there all week.

I'll be there. Arriving Satuday so I can attend Heli Success on Sunday. Departing on Friday morning. I'll be at the Embassy Suites at the convention center.

I'll be attending:

Heli-Success on Sunday.

Nutz and Boltz of Financing or Leasing Your Helicopter on Monday.

Various FAA Safety courses related to the Rotorcraft Safety Challenge, Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll be cruising the convention floor when I'm not in a course.

Guys,

A tip on a hotel. Across the street from the Marriott to catch the shuttle bus or 2 blocks from the Convention Ctr.

Clarion Hotel and Casino Near Las Vegas Strip

Mar 2, 2013 for 1 night $69.99 Mar 3, 2013 for 4 nights $62.99

(per ni

I think some single bed rooms are $49 ?????

Edited, Just checked, queen non smoking $61.59

Take advantage of the free courses that are part of the Rotorcraft Safety Challenge, listed as RSC on the HAI web site and pre-register for "Wings" credit. They start on the 4th and continue to the 7th but most take place on 4 & 5. www.rotors.com

I will arrive on the 2nd, will be acclimating (EST to PST) & hanging around the Clarion on the 3rd, and be involved with IHST functions on the 4th. If anyone wants to talk helicopters at lunch or after on the 3rd, text 239-269-5016 and I will be glad to have coffee or just shoot the chit.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Mike

I'll be there Thursday night the 28th thru the next Friday.

I'm also golfing in the HFI tournament, if anybody is interested in joining my group, let me know.

I think I'm staying at the MGM.

I am going so far, school is making it a bit more of a pain than it should be but, I plan to go still. I was going to leave Sunday but now I will probably leave after school Monday night.

Luxor has rooms for $40-45/night,...however that doesn't include the "resort fee" of $18/night (damn fine print)! Still not a bad deal though?

What about transportation cost from hotel to conv. ctr.?

Is it walkable and convenient?

You can walk over to the MGM (maybe 20min,...I'm a slow walker though, and you don't even have to touch the street!) and catch the monorail. Its not that long of a ride (sorry I can't be more specific) and last time I was there (last month) it was $5 one-way, or $12 for a 24hr pass.

That's what I did for helisuccess a few years ago, and it worked out great. You can even get a shuttle from the airport to Luxor for about $12 round trip. Luxor has always seemed to be one of the cheapest hotels on the strip,...as long as you don't stay there friday, or saturday!

Just in case anyone may be interested. Excalibur (next to Luxor) is advertising $31/night, and their "resort fee" is $15/night.

There's also a hotel called The Quad. I don't recall ever seeing this one when I was lastr there, but from what I gather its next to Harrahs (thus closer to the expo, than the others) and is close to the monorail. They're advertising rates in the $20s, but I don't know if they tack on a "resort fee"?

Anyway, happy hunting!

The Quad is the Imp-Imp Palace rebadged; no too many OK reviews, and far fewer that go above that.

Any ideas for the VR meet 'n greet/ drinkathon? Monday/ 04 MAR will be the HAI reception at Wynn. Maybe sump'in informal there?

Circus Circus is perennially cheap and also at the north end of the Strip, as are the off-the-strip Station Casinos. South Point is probably the closest of those (~10mi south along I-15) and is usually about $45/night midweek, no resort fees, and they run a free shuttle to the convention center, very nice accommodations and way less crazy than anywhere on the Strip...albeit less convenient and not walkable. Just some ideas for anyone who is undecided yet! :)

I'll be there... =)

Fly in on the 3rd, back to NY on the 8th. Didn't sign up for any classes because money is tight, but I would have liked to take the Aerodynamics without equations class.

As for hotels, I booked my room at the Riviera which is right next to the convention center. $27.50/night + taxes. I was there before for the Heli Success seminar and it wasn't bad.

Leaving Peru, Indiana on Saturday February 23rd with over night stops in Branson, Amarillo (two nights) and Flagstaff. We plan to arrive in Vegas on Wednesday February 27th. Hoping for some great flying weather along the way. Nothing beats the air like a Huey! Staying at the Riviera until departure on Friday or Saturday March 8th or 9th. The old girl will be a fitting tribute to our Veterans in the Heritage Display.
