jag32 Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I am hazy on this and would like clarification. I'm an active duty Marine conducting an interservice transfer to the Army. I will be on the board in May. What I don't understand is this; am I on the same board as the civilian applicants and am I competing against civilian applicants as well, or am I only competing against other active duty applicants? Thanks 1 Quote

Thanks To my understanding you will be competing against your AD group while the civilian group is entirely separate. Quote

zVo Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Here's an easy way to find out --Is the board you're attending held monthly, or is it held bi-monthly? Monthly boards are held for civilian applicants, whereas bi-monthly boards are done for active duty applicants. Quote
zVo Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) Even better -- I just spoke to a friend whose an Air Force IST and he said he competed against civilian applicants (and other IST applicants). So there's your answer: civilian board.... usually. There's exceptions, too -- where are you doing your board interview? Edited March 8, 2013 by zVo Quote

Old info Zack, they switched civilian boards to every other month just under a year ago. Quote

Optamix Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I can confirm, while they do the boards at the same time you will only boarded against active duty. Quote
jag32 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks. Is anyone aware of acceptance rates for AD boards? Quote
Rob1237051 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I'm guessing May might be that...without the 4. Quote

jag32 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 January was 48.2%.Do you know approximately how many applicants were on that active duty board? Quote
jag32 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 As far as LORs go for active duty guys, are we permitted to submit 6 as well, or only the senior Army CW LOR, battalion commander, and company commander? Quote
Rob1237051 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Oh hush!!!! Sorry Lindsey I'm a little eior-like if you haven't noticed. What's the point... Jag: I think it was about 160. I'm not where I can check that MILPER right now. 1 Quote

ronricorum88 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 for those AD but not in the Army, what did you wear for your board? Can you wear your branch equivalent dress uniform or just plain formal "civies?" Quote
Optamix Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 If your active duty, there is no board. Just the packet. Quote
ronricorum88 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 WOW! ok now i know i need some sleep. I was looking around for clarification on the Battalion Board, i read awhile back that AD didnt have to do this portion, and i got confused by this thread. This thread's "board" is refering to Selection boards, not actual face to face boards. haha sorry fellas. -__-' Quote
