CoffeeAddict Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Hi All, Can anyone recommend someone that's got an MD500 available at a reasonable cost? Or,If there are any ferry flights someone has that would allow me to sit in and log some time. I'd pay your fuel costs, let's work something out.I'm in the southeast, CPL-H, and can be where you need me pretty quickly. Please PM, or reply in the thread. Thanks a lot! Quote
SwissFAACFI Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Lancaster helicopters charge 450 per hour and 425 solo. You might find a CFI who need some MD500 time as well.Good luck 1 Quote
Flying Pig Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 You find a 500 and I'll be glad to teach you how to fly it 1 Quote
CoffeeAddict Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 I'm headed up to Lancaster Heli next week. Hopefully the weather will be good. The rates on the website are out of date though. We'll see how it goes but I'd still like to have time. There's plenty of them to be had. Believe me, if I could afford a 500 I'd have one. :D Quote
CoffeeAddict Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Finished with Lancaster for now. It's good training, worth the money IMO.Still looking for more time. If someone wants to share ferry costs or something let me know. Please reply here or PM. Quote
ah64eric Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'd like some clarification on these hourly rates I'm seeing here. "SWISSFAACFI" said that Lancaster Helicopters charges $450/hr dual and $425/hr solo. I mentioned those rates to a guy with Northwest Helicopters here in Olympia, Washington today. He said Northwest Helicopters charges $1650 per hour, and that's normal. Anyone care to weigh in here? Quote
CoffeeAddict Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Lancaster helicopters is up to $550-600/hr these days. His website hasn't been updated is a very long time. It's best to call him. Quote
RagMan Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 $1600 per hour??? Wow. Are you sure you and he were talking about the right aircraft?? That sounds like a long ranger or Astar price to me. Quote
ah64eric Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Yes we were talking about the MD-500. Quote
Spike Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 He said Northwest Helicopters charges $1650 per hour, and that's normal. Anyone care to weigh in here? A “normal” approach and a “normal” take-off is the only thing I've found to be “normal” in this business…… At $1600, they’re not doing any government contract work as the MD500 hourly rate tops out at approximately $935….
