E11evenB Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I'm new and have been browing the forums and have learned a lot in preparing the packet for WOFT. My question is I am currently getting 10% Disability from the VA for Tinnitus but it does NOT affect my hearing in any way. Would I need a waiver or could I even get a waiver? It is high pitch and like i said does not affect my hearing. Quote
Joe_P148 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 there aren't any flight Surgeons in here man, You will have to refer that with Rucker a flight surgeon or a GP. Quote
Velocity173 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 You'll need a waiver but you should be good. I worked with several warrants who got out of the Army with Tinnitus (amoung other things). They rolled right into a DAC instructing position with multiple waivers. Quote
Joe_P148 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Velocity, The issue is that lately they have been disapproving Waivers for initial applicants that rated pilots are getting. Quote

I forgot about the current board situation with waivers. I think Stearman said the same thing. I guess it's kind of a crap shoot on waiver approval these days. Quote
E11evenB Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 I guess it would never hurt to try and the only thing showing i have Tinnitus is my VA disability which i have to claim on the Pre-Screen for MEPs. By no means am I going to lie, I just want to make sure I get to the Flight Physical phase and I'm atleast looked at (given everything else is in line.) I figure it is disqualifying becuase of possible hearing loss, but I don't have any hearing loss. Thanks for the help! Quote
pilothooks Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Has anyone gotten an astigmatism waiver? My eyes are easily correctable to 20/20. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to get one. I finished phase 1 of the flight physical today. Quote
ftxag76 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 There is a guy in my class whom got one for that reason Quote

TriViper Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Who are the brass that approve the age waivers for WOFT? What's the process and how long does it take? Does the waiver have to be approved by USAREC? Quote
