Mihlfeldl2005
Well hello, It's been a little while since I last posted on this board. I graduated Flight School XXI this past month and returned to my National Guard unit. I just applied to Western Michigan University and have a meeting with an academic advisor on Friday. Besides the obvious G.I. Bill and FTA, what other scholarships/methods of paying for school are out there for military? Specifically going for an Aviation Flight Sciences degreehttp://www.wmich.edu/academics/undergraduate/aviation-flight
zVo
I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a different degree...
wm200
I got the same degree and I start BOLC in a few weeks. But yea, I recommend a different degree. Get your ratings at a FBO. College flight schools are 3-5x more expensive.
apacheguy
College flight schools are 3-5x more expensive. But the GI Bill pays for the whole thing if you're pursuing a degree unlike at a FBO...
DaveC
Get a non-aviation degree (engineering is a great way to go), and find an FBO with a 141 program it's still covered by the GI Bill.

zVo
But the GI Bill pays for the whole thing if you're pursuing a degree unlike at a FBO... Chances are he has a fraction of his GI Bill due to limited TIS and has to pay a significant percentage of his college bill. Why would he be asking for other methods to pay for college if he has 100% of his tuition covered?
akscott60
I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a different degree... Why? Let him have a stupid degree like most of us If I did it all over again, I would have chose something fun, like history. Useless? Yes. I am not smart enough for engineering or something.
