iChris Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) QUESTION: So if a CFI is instructing a rated pilot and the "student" is sole manipulator of the controls, who gets to log it as PIC? ANSWER: The student logs dual received, the flight instructor logs dual given and PIC because in the TC system you don't have a license until the checkride at the end of the 100 hour commercial course. There is almost no flight instruction given to rated pilots, but each would log dual given or dual received, but only one can log as PIC. Wait one on this...Maybe we should rethink that answer. Is that correct? Edited May 8, 2014 by iChris Quote
Whistlerpilot Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 You can just do a private pilot rating of course, but if doing the commercial you don't do the private checkride, just straight to the commercial after the 100 hour training. Wait one on this...Maybe we should rethink that answer. Is that correct? I spent a few hours looking through the CARS and wasn't able to find any definitive reference either way. It's bugging me so when I find it will post the reg. However that is what I've been told by everyone, only one person at a time can log PIC in Canada. There is an exception for SIC to log limited PIC towards ATPL from the right seat in the fixed wing world. If you have the time look through the CARS online, way less user friendly than the FARS! nightsta1ker Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The commonly accepted practice is not necessarily the correct one. Also, nobody cares. 1 Quote
