Astro Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 There's a sleeve with a button flap and a side opening on the inner left thigh just below where my plums sit. What is this strange pocket for? Quote
Flying Pig Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I had a custom flight suit ordered and had that pocket left off. Quote
avbug Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I remove the pocket on my flight suits. The fabric you remove, if saved, is handy for small patches. Quote

Gomer Pylot Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 The original use was to store the safety pin for the ejection seat when in flight. You pull the pin from the seat during runup, and put it there so it doesn't fly around in the cockpit during combat operations. After landing, during the shutdown checklist, you put it back into the seat. Apparently it's not possible to modify flightsuits, and that pocket is still there on all of them. You can put whatever you like in it. Quote
WolftalonID Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Makes me want to get a nice cotter pin and put it in that pocket....then on shut down ask my student to put it back....wait for him/her to ask what it is and where it goes...then tell em it was the safty pin for the ejection seat!!! Hopefully they ask....it would suck to just watch them shove it in some random place on the heli like it belonged there! Quote

The medics got all that stuff and an additional open top tool pocket on the lower leg. Quote
Flying Pig Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I got one from Gibson and Barnes (I think) and it looked like a regular OD green military suit but you could move adjust the pockets. I had that inner thigh pocket removed and the sleeve pen pocket. Quote
