Spike
In the end, it’s easy to see, this business, and most of the people in it are……… predictable……
Gomer Pylot
I flew helicopters because that's what Uncle Sam offered at the time. I never got the chance to fly fixed-wing, and I would have done it if I could have. I'm not sure one is better than the other, but I never got a choice. But regardless of that, cockpits were better than foxholes.

Flying Pig
Both can be equally enjoyable It all depends on the mission. I did a lot of mountain flying in the Sierra in a turbo Cessna 206 and loved it. I'm fortunate to fly both regularly. Although if someone held a gun to my head and made me choose, I would take helicopters
RagMan
I fell in love during middle school as helicopters from a local utility company (PJ Helicopters) would fly by our school every single day either leaving for a job or coming back from one. I'd hear the blade slap from the Hueys miles and miles away coming in. I thought that was the most cool thing ever! I followed that love by serving in the Army as a flight mechanic on H-60L/Ms out of Ft. Campbell for six years right out of high school, building my aviation experience and knowledge. I had the hindsight of going Warrant, but got tired of the military system and two deployments. I departed the military and went to school in Oregon, receiving my degree in Aviation Science and my rotary wing ratings up through CFII. I'm now flying an R44 in Florida and don't regret anything one bit.
Flying Pig
I am a CFI airplane and CFI helicopter and happen to be in a spot where I fly both. However in most cases, you will find that airplane jobs don't care about helicopter time and helicopter jobs usually have strict restrictions on even mentioning the word "airplane" within 1000 meters of a helicopter.
Francis Meyrick
Confession: I was a high time fixed wing driver, and the only reason I went for a helicopter trial lesson was that I wanted to prove how "easy it was".I got seduced...I just wanted to learn to hover, and walk away. Well, it wasn't. That infuriated me. Hang on, I'm an ace pilot. I can fly all kinds of stuff. I can't fly a helicopter...?So I got suckered in.Fascinated. Hooked. Zero regrets. I enjoy 'em both. I know, pitiful.
