PhotoFlyer Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Who is going to Heli-Expo this year? Since it looks like I will still be in Texas I'm going to check it out. Quote
yzchopper Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I am going to try but not sure if I will get to make it. I will be just west of Dallas in a little town called Mineral Wells on a firefighting contract. I work for Croman flying SIC in an S-61H. If I make it hope to meet some of ya. Fly safe Quote
SpaceCadet Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Hey all Looooong time no post.... it's been a crazy winter. long story short I am CFI'd and working on the double II, hoping against hope that a coveted slot a HAI Cali opens up soon... Winter did'nt excatly stoke the flying fires, but this early spring brought some side work and a little coin, and if this HEli expo is anything like last years I'm gonna try and hop a flight out to take it in and shake some hands. Question: any other low rent types out there that might want to split the high hotel cost? Let me know soon... I 'll post a thread to for more exposure Cheers, -J Quote
PhotoFlyer Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Look's like I'll only be able to go on sunday, only to the job fair, unless I manage a discount pass. I was really looking forward to the expo and some of the workshops. Quote
Heli-Ops Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 We will be there so stop by and pick up a copy of the latest issue.  Cheers Ned Quote

Heli_Girl Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I hope to go....I live in Houston, and am only 18. Trying to get the money to go and arrange everything. I dont have my private license yet, working on yet, money is always an issue, but i hope to make it to the event and get to see all the beautiful helis, and maybe meet some nice pilots  Is there anything i really need to know? I've never been to a large heli event like this and dont really know what to do or expect...I think i read somewhere that it's like $75 per person, per day..? And can i buy the tickets when i get there, or do i have to sign up? Im so confused Quote

Im so confused  Hi there - I take it from your ID that you're a girl; re money being an issue for training - have you seen these folks ?http://www.whirlygirls.org/ If you click on scholarships, you can peruse various awards for add'l or new training to get a license. Heli_Girl Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Hellos, Yes, i am a girl...and i have looked into WhirlyGirls, the only thing wrong with that is the fact that in order to be considered for their scholarships you must 1st have a private license...which i am lacking Quote
delorean Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I think i read somewhere that it's like $75 per person, per day..? Student passes are $25.......and anyone can get them. Don't buy your tickets ahead of time, just tell them your a student when you get up to the window and they'll give you a student pass. You'll get all the free stuff, except for the tote bag. You should still contact the WhirlyGirls, they might get you in for free. They always have booth which means they'll have a block of free passes. Quote
Heli_Girl Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Wow, $25.00?! Awesome, i just hope they dont ask for proof or anything Hehe, and i want a lil tote bag! No fair lol. I have contacted WhirlyGirls a while back by e-mail, and they said i need a Private license to show that i am dedicated and will not back out if they give me a scholarship, so thats what im working on right now. Ill probably stop by their booth at the expo and talk to them, but im pretty sure thats what they will say  Thank you for the info! Quote

vertrefadmin Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 coptercrazy, It's not too bad right now temperature wise here in DFW for you Canucks. Although, I can't wait to get back home (to Alaska). Little too warm in the hotel rooms and the thermostats are locked so they do not go below 65 F in the room. -Rey Quote
