adam32 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) S-92 for Cougar ditched in the ocean, one survivor, one confirmed dead, 16 still missing. Very sad. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,508978,00.html Edited March 12, 2009 by adam32 Quote
ADRidge Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 That's really rough. I hope they find everyone else, although the North Atlantic being what it is... My thoughts are with the families tonight. Quote
West Coaster Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 As of this morning, still just 2 people recovered... only one alive. Not that it matters, but the survivor wasn't a crew member. Stunned about the whole thing, really good outfit and awesome people there. Quote
500E Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 There is a report that no PLB appeared to trigger, would suggest that people went down with the helio, it would be to much of a coincidence for that no of units to fail. The report says they reported gearbox problems & were returning to land A real bad thing top happen, having lost a friend who disappeared over water I feel for the friends & family's, Quote
dave7373 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I was told their last transmission said thay had main gearbox oil pressure "irregularities" and were going to ditch it. amazing that it would sink so fast if that did in fact ditch it. but with 3 meter seas, who knows. only one lived and hes still in intensive care. if he pulls through hopefully he can shed some light. my prayers go out to the families. Gomer Pylot Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 They've found the wreckage on the sea floor, and plan to recover it next week. It's probable the bodies of most of the victims are inside it. It also has CVR/FDR/HUMS onboard, which should provide the information necessary to find out the major cause of the accident. Quote
