Little Red 22 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 You could go to the Whirly Girls banquet on Monday night. It's where the hot heli-chicks hang out. Are you man enough to join the Whirly Girls Auxillary for $25? The banquet cost $65, good food, good fun, great networking! 2 Quote
arotrhd Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I would recommend ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney. It's a liitle touristy and not my normally first choice, but it's walking distance from the Convention Center and all shuttles lead to Disney. They have decent food and a very large bar area. Ummm, I'm thinking we do a hostile takeover (VR style) of either Morton's or Ruth's Chris. If not, ESPN is definitely crawling distance. +, for those who haven't been to DD, a lot of fun & eats & sights in close proximity. SMS before show, Safety Challenge Tues & Wed, floor Thur and Adv. Op Mgmt after show. -WATCH FOR THE PATTERNS, WATCH FOR THE WIRES- Quote

As long as you just drink beer (or water 😉) it won't be overly expensive. There is also a Joe's Crab Shack a few blocks away near most of the hotels. Quote
aussiecop Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Joe's might work for everyone if cost is a factor, cheaper drinks at least Quote

aussiecop Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 McGavin, Being the local, does the place you're recommending take bookings? maybe we could get a rough number and make a reservation? I'm for sure coming and bringing 2 others, we should be onsite by 7:30-8pm once everyone's flight arrives and we get the rental sorted and get checked in. Quote
C of G Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 I think I'll be talking for a bit at the Goodrich Rescue Hoist Users Conference the day prior to the expo and I have family in Long Beach so the night doesn't matter to me. I'll also probably be bringing another pilot friend along for a quick beer. Quote

Football season is over and Monday night shouldn't be too busy. I think we can make it happen without reservations as long as the first person on scene grabs a few tables for the group. Quote
aussiecop Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Sounds good. So are we decided that it will be ESPN zone (again, don't have a clue about where everything is, we are staying at the Holiday Inn). Being that the welcome reception is until 8:30. should we say 8:30-9pm for those who will go there first? Quote
palmfish Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 ESPN Zone at 8:30 sounds good to me. Im not going to the reception so if anyone wants to meet up earlier for dinner, Im game for that too. How about 7:00? Quote
Machinegun21 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'll be there in full force with the ERAU crew. Looking forward to meeting up with all of you Quote

Little Bird Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'll be attending for the first time, newly arrived and legal and soon to convert my CPL.I'm curious about the job fair, is this something you should arrive for when it starts and stay all day? Or just pop in for a few hours? Are there booths set up where you stand in line & wait to talk to various companies or is it like a giant cocktail party of meeting & greeting? Thanks! Quote
pilot#476398 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 When I was there in 2011 the job fair was in a rather small room and was pretty packed with people standing in line at the booths to talk (especially the PHI booth). Last year it was a very large room and with only six to ten booths there it seemed like a ghost town. No need to stay all day. I popped in a few times throughout the day just (in between seminars) for a few minutes to see if there was anyone new (or anyone interested in low timers) I could talk to? Quote
