Ferguson500
Happy holidays, everybody! I've been following these WOFT forums for the past year, and decided today that it is about time that I chime in with a new thread for everyone who wants to chip in about the upcoming board or just post your stats! Just submitted my packet to the Battalion for my interview next week. Here is my packet's stats: Age:18Degree: High School Diploma (graduated year early) 2.6 GPA😓ASVAB: 92 (not sure what my GT is)SIFT: 64Flight Time: no documented hrsLOR's: Colonel of Idaho Air Army National Guard, Brigadier General of Idaho Air Army National Guard, Retired Colonel of National Guard, Retired Army CW4 (human factors integration specialist, Aircrew Integration Branch, Aviation Engineering Directorate), and the Lieutenant Governor of IdahoPT: 280Other Notes: Father is retired AH-64 pilot Warrant Officer and now owns a helicopter construction company so I have a LOT of hours around helicopters. Also have leadership and community service being a president for 2 groups and a treasurer for my high school class. Overall I feel decent about my packet. I would have a way better shot if I had college, wasn't 18, and had logged flight hours. It is what it is though. Good Luck Everybody!

Seriously one of the most competitive packets I've seen. Great LOR's, great test scores, great background, and even some flight time to top it off. You've got me beat! Write a good essay and don't insult the battalion's families and I think you've got the slot! Hope to see you at Rucker! Fingers crossed!

There have been plenty of people who do not have degrees or flight time that have made selection. With your LORs and your score you will most likely be selected. Just remain confident during the board and you will do fine.

wheelsup
Also, for the other AD folks, looks like this March board will be filled with Commissioned officers applying as this is now the only board available to them this year.. not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing..

krustchinsky
Update: Just finished my battalion board and was recommended for selection. Did not get the score, but I imagine I did well. The process:Drove with my recruiter to the battalion board in Irvine (I'm from the Denton area) around 0900.A civilian employee at the battalion's office gave me some guidance on the official photo I would be taking, and then we assembled my name and "WOFT Applicant" out off some letters and placed it on a plaque. We took the photograph and I had some time to waste before the board so we relaxed in the break room. Walked up to the room to wait for the green light to go before the board then knocked three times, waited for the "Enter" command, and then went before the board. I stood at attention next to the chair and was introduced by my recruiter before being told that I could take sit and relax. I was asked just a few questions and the board only lasted for maybe 10 minutes. It was quick and to the point. Here are some of the things I did to prepare:Wore the same suit for both the board and my photograph. Practiced answering the basic questions with myself over the past few weeks. It is really likely that you will be asked questions about why you want to become a Warrant Officer and why you think you would be an asset to the Army. It is important that you practice to avoid the dreaded "umms" and "uhhhs" so that you appear to have a complete understanding of what you are getting into.Relax. I can't stress enough how taking a breath before knocking and sitting before the board can help you. Sit back in your chair, focus on eye contact, and try to relax as much as possible. If you are tense and nervous it will show in your answers.Be honest and direct. Don't tell elaborate stories and focus on answering their questions. In all it was a good experience and I'm ready for the next chapter!

Good to hear that your interview went good! My recruiter has informed me that my battalion board is in a couple of weeks. My interview will be over video conference because my battalion is out of SLC and I'm in Boise. I'm not sure if a video conference will be an advantage or a disadvantage. I guess we'll see! krustchinsky
so applying as civilian you have the same deadline right? I think the deadlines are different. Since my batt. board is done, I know they submit same day to USAREC and I think we have until a week or two prior to the board to submit changes and/or correct errors. My best bit of advice would be to improve other areas of your packet to offset your SIFT. Try to get that PT up to 300 and obtain another really good LOR if you can. Whatever you do, don't stop trying. You'll get in eventually, and you'll be extremely happy that you didn't let one test get in the way of your dream. bLACksUn1015
Not sure why the shortage will mean for us applicants, but I know that my submission for the battalion board was over a week late and they still called and asked me to come sit for the interview. After that, my flight physical wasn't complete till Feb. 26th even though the USAREC board packet submission deadline was the 23rd. Still, they held the door open for me. Seems like they are allowing a lot of things to slide for qualified applicants due to the shortage. Age 21I graduate in May with a bachelors degree, 3.99 GPA.
