Hello everyone,

I'm a new member on this group. Looks like a great forum. I need some help. I wish to become a helicopter pilot and would really appreciate your guidance.

(background:I'm in my second last year of engineering from India)

I had the following few questions in this regard:

Your help is much appreciated.

 Which country has the best institutes for helicopter training?

 Among the institutes in the recommended country which are ranked on the top?

 Which helicopter should one train on?

 Which is the best terrain for helicopter training?

 Are there any special requirements for admission to the institute?

 How and when can I start preparing for the admissions?

 Are there any implications regarding LASIK eye correction surgery?

 How is current job scenario for helicopter pilots?

It would seem that the job market for pilots really sucks (despite the looming pilot shortage proclaimed by people who write in helicopter magazines)?

If I were you I'd come to the States, use my engineering degree to get a good paying job in Silicon Valley, get my PPL in my spare time, buy an R22 and enjoy my well-to-do happy-go-lucky life! :)

Welcome to the forums!

If you would like a professional approach to your questions, feel free to PM me directly and I will email you some information. I am the Chief Instructor for Rocky Mountain Rotors in Montana. We can also assist foreign pilot students in the path for a student visa and we are authorized to train foreign students as well. Being a pilot is a difficult path in life, but a very rewarding adventure only a few enjoy these days. Hard work, and a possitive attitude is what it takes to succeed. It sounds like your going to do just fine.
