All I'm waiting on is approval from AFPC for my voluntary separation. Not sure if my DD368 has to be signed by them before being included in my packet, or if my commanders approval will suffice since I am a sister service.

I waited for the official notice from AFPC, but I don't think they actually need to see that as it's not a packet requirement. AFPC does not touch the actual 368, it's just uploaded with your request. I attached the official notice from them anyways, but the real thing the recruitment team cares about is a signed 368 with a "release is valid until" date no less than two months after the board you are attempting to make convenes. My packet was accepted like that.

Also, the AFPC approval does not take long for these. Since it is an officer accession program, I believe the workflow route skips your functional chain (which is a good thing for most AFSCs) and goes directly to AFPC. It took them less than a week to officially respond to both my original request and an amended request I made.

Hey brother,

Good luck on the board!

Just turned my packet into HRC for the May board. Stats are:

Age: 25

Degree: B.S. Criminal Justice - 3.55 GPA

GT: 125

SIFT: 66

AFPT: 294

Flight Physical: 1W - Done

Flight Time: None

Military: 5 years - E6 U.S. Army

LORs:

CW5 - Aviator/ Brigade Safety Officer

LTC - Current BN CDR

LTC - Former BN CDR

CW3 - Aviator/ Mentor - Maintenance test pilot UH 60

CW3 - Company/ Detachment Commander

CW2 - Team Chief (Really personal letter, and happens to be a warrant - why not.)

About Me:

3 years Infantry - Once deployed out of 170th Infantry in Baumholder. Then at the Old Guard - 670+ Funeral Missions as a Team leader.

2 years as a CID Agent - only one year in E5 and E6, so two NCOERs, latest most qualified. Awards for investigations to include preventing the sexual assault of a child.

Won Battalion, Brigade, and Major Command Level 2016 NCO of the Year/ Best Warrior Competition.

Down side- Moral waiver needed for when I was 16 years old and stole something -_-. But I am confident with the law enforcement experience and having recovered over a half million dollars for the Government in the last year, that we can look past it.

Good luck everyone!

Mike,

Wish I would have known that prior -_-. It kind of came down to picking and choosing who would write one, wherein by former BC and team chief approached me to write one. Talked with a couple recruiters who said, the more the merrier. I read/ heard somewhere that three supplemental LORs is kind of the cap for what the max is for the packet. I think we were also trying to compensate for the moral waiver, just to put the best foot forward. Does anyone have any experience with those?

Also, some warrants I have spoken to, are under the impression that the packet might be boarded in march rather than May because of the shortage of pilots, despite missing that application deadline. I scoff at the idea of the moral waiver being pushed through the pipe and someone making this happen, but it affects my family. Anyone have that happen to them? My wife is finishing up school right around the time the May board is supposed to meet. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

-Alex

Not sure if I quoted correctly, guess we will find out...

Just wanted to make sure I understood correctly, on the checklist about half way down, it says DD Form 368 on there. Maybe it's new?

Also, you are correct about it being quick, just got notified about it being approved by my base authority and was pushed to AFPC. So I'll give it a few days than get a hold of them. I'm deployed though so I need to track down a good DSN for them. Anyone have one by chance?

No, you're right, I meant the official notice letter from AFPC notifying you that you have an approved separation date. The recruitment team only cares about the actual 368 with the signatures and a release date that's valid no less than two months after the date the board convenes.

Also, I forgot to mention AFPC will not give you a conditional release more than six months out, so you need to factor that as well. They will give extensions to the date though, so don't sweat it too much. And be sure you're not using the Nov '94 version of the 368. I had to re-accomplish mine and use the updated Aug '11 one after I submitted my packet.

*The DSN for separations is 665-0102

This is what I am being told among who I have spoken to. I wouldn't delay any. You can always update stuff later. I have 90 days before the board meets and I am already impatient :D

Good morning,

I am currently in the process of putting my packet together for flight. I have one worry and that is sleep apnea. I was diagnosed a couple of months ago. Is that something that is normally waived. I go Monday for the 2nd phase of my physical. I meet all other requirements. I am stressing this apnea deal. I sleep with a CPAP. My diagnosis was mild sleep apnea. Any experience with this? Also I am active duty already.

AFPC dissaproved my CR yesterday, due to manning in maintenance. I'm trying to go through my local MPF now. Wish me luck.

Sorry to hear J4C, I would ask the same as GSD if you selected officer accession program. AFPC approved mine a few days ago and I think TACP is also on the min manning list, but I could be wrong. I think mine went straight from my base to AFPC based on the auto emails I received.

On another note, I just put in my packet a few hours ago, so now it's wait time. Was anyone else's packet 85 pages? I'm a sister service so a good chunk of it was EPR's and certificates since those don't get reflected the way the Army does it with their ERB.

What kind of certs did you include? If you don't mind me asking.

And luckily my CC is willing to help me fight the bean counters at AFPC. So I'm not giving this up yet. I have worked too dang hard and studied too much to stop.

I've done a few army schools plus tech school. So Air Assault, Jungle school, Arctic survival, SERE, EMT-b, ALS, ccaf, course15, tech school, etc. Literally anything you think can help you. Maybe not ADLS haha.

Wouldn't those schools be captured underneath the military education section of your resume? The checklist called for "professional" certificates. I'm sure including them wouldn't hurt you though... may just be a little redundant.

Oh yes, I captured it there as well, just added certificates for proof since there is no other way they would know most of that stuff since the air force doesn't care about jungle school, air assault, etc. Just being thorough.

Currently, Army Aviation is under staffed by about 730 pilots, +\-.

Mike-

How does this really translate to selection rates though? A review of the past Milpers indicate an average of 45 pilots picked up per board, regardless of the number of applicants.

That being said, it will be interesting how many are picked up on the March board. What do you think?
