I did a search on AMC's website, but didn't find the movie. I then asked my father who said it could've been Viva Las Vegas or Blue Hawaii. Given the fact you had mentioned he "flew" the helo in Hawaii I would assume that Blue Hawaii would be the movie. I'll post the link, check the photo in the upper right hand corner and see if that reminds you of anything. http://www.amctv.com/show/detail?CID=369-1-EST rookie Quote

Gomer Pylot Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 The 'Hinds' in Red Dawn were Pumas, with stuff hung on the sides. PHI supplied the aircraft and pilots. One of them sat on the ramp at Lafayette, LA for awhile still tricked up. The paint was apparently watercolors, and washed off eventually. Quote
Gunner Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 the DPE for my pvt, comm and CFI checkrides has flown in a few movies... He has a few lines in Die Hard with a Vengence. He's the pilot that gets shot down in a 206 with Bruce Willis and Sam L. Jackson in the back seat. Watched it the other day as it have been on HBO lately and had a nice chuckle. I also got my seaplane rating with the guy who flew the Maule seaplane in Speed 2 and Gone Fishin'... Quote

jsmith13 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Yes, Blue Thunder....just bought the "special edition" release on DVD. I remember it Goldy! Also, The Matrix had several shots of helicopters. Trinity calls into base to get a flight program for a Bell sitting on top of the building (forget the exact model...maybe a 212).There are just sooo many movies to list off... But one thing i have noticed from seeing Helis in movies is that just about all of them end up getting blown up or shot down! Anyone else seem to notice this? Oh another movie..S.W.A.TMany Helis throughout the movieHuey dropping them off in the beginning, Police heli getting shot by a sniper(another downed heli, as i said), and other helis following the convoy through downtown. Inthegreen Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Wow, you could go on forever. Here are some I thought of right off the bat Cliffhanger - 212, I think Coogan's Bluff - Boeing Vertol 107 (N6684D) flying for New York Airways, still in service with Columbia today, I think. That movie with Charles Bronson and the Alouette 2 or Lama, I don't remember which. I can't remember the name either. He gets in and flies away without really knowing how. First Die Hard - UH-1 It seems like one of the Bond Films had a Hiller 12D or E in it, anyone remember? We were soldiers - UH-1 Platoon - UH-1 Full metal Jacket - S-58 or Westland, perhaps The Right Stuff- S-58 Apollo 13 - S-61 That's all I could think of quickly. I have to go pre-flight now. Quote
