SkyGorilla
Hello everyone!Im currently a UH-1Y Crew Chief serving in the Marine Corps. My plan if I am not selected by the Army WO program is to pursue a civilian flight career. I understand that the field is very competative and would like to know if Crew Chief flight hours, to include NVG hours, are at all valuble when applying for civil piloting positions.

Flim
You will have to start at the bottom... but at least you can use your GI to pay for some of it!
Flying Pig
I have over 1000hrs of NVG time as a non-pilot LE crew member (flight officer observer) that I kept track of over the years before I started flying. About all its good for is the fond memories. Of course, does that experience translate into now being a pilot? Heck yeah it does. But its doesn't count for anything loggable. ospreydriver
Have you thought about trying for MECEP and then for an air contract?
SkyGorilla
Thanks for the responses, I figured my crew chief blue book would amount to nothing more than memorabilia but thought I might as well ask. As for MECEP Im not eligible, ive looked into it. Hopefully i can get accepted into the WO program...
Creep0321
Im in the same boat brother, not eligible for MECEP, but after talking to alot of Marine aviators, and Army aviators, sounds like I would enjoy the warrant officer life better, but we will see.
