ee15
I am currently working on my WOFT packet. I've passed the SIFT and am gathering LOR's at the moment. My recruiter just informed me that those who are responsible for selecting the WOFT applicants are changing, and that the selection process is going to become more difficult. He is rushing me to get into the next civilian board because of this change. He wants me to take the APFT this week and while I know I can pass it decently right now, I know the fitness test is very important and I would like to score high on it. Does anyone here know about this change my recruiter is talking about? On a side note, do you guys suggest me getting in on the next board I can, or building the strongest possible packet and then submitting it? Because if I shoot for this next board, my LOR's will be decent along with my APFT. However if I wait a bit, I am working with a CW2 Apache pilot who is getting me an interview with a CW5 to write me a letter. I assume everyone will say to build the strongest packet possible and then submit, but my recruiter doesn't really understand that. Any info is appreciated, thanks. Creep0321
Im not Army, but I haven't heard anything about changes. Can you expand any further as to what your recruiter said? What is a decent APFT score to you?
Airman_gone_soldier
Would you mind posting your packet stats so we can get the whole picture?
ee15
He didnt have much information. I was hoping someone here would know if this is even true. He said the group responsible for selecting applicants is changing soon, and it is going to make the selection more difficult. I don't know if he is blowing smoke, he said he received an email. That's all the information he gave me. Right now I would score around a 250, I know this is not competitive. I would like to give myself some time to get a 270+. Creep0321
Its not hard to improve the APFT man. Check out Military Athlete, Rob Shaul has a ton of programs, one specifically designed for the APFT. Following his, with shin splints and running 1/2 the programed distance everyday, I went from a 270ish to a 290 this morning in just over 4 weeks.

Once I am selected thats what ill be doing any ways.

Ardo09203
No changes come to mind other than the tattoo policy and the change in SIFT min score (which you are well above). Are you looking to go AD or National Guard? Not sure what could possibly be changing, other than maximum age? I know there was talk about lowering it from 30 to 27, but even if they did I'm sure there would be a grace period. Bottom line, with the draw down, it will be harder to get selected period. Just make sure you have a solid packet. From the looks of it you do! Get the PT up, and those CW LoR's and you should be solid.
Creep0321
If they change the age, I'm screwed, don't even say that right now. haha.
Lindsey
Submit your packet NOW. Even if you aren't selected you will be automatically looked at the following board which would still give you time to improve your packet. It's a win-win. Nike. Just do it.
ee15
I'm looking to go AD. Thanks for the information Ardo. So should I submit my current packet, or make it stronger with a higher fitness score and a couple CW letters before I submit for a board? ee15
I submitted my previous post before I saw your post Lindsey. Thanks for that advice. Is there a limit to how many times I can submit a packet?
Creep0321
I believe if you are FQ-NS on a board, you automatically roll to the next board. In your case if you didn't get selected you can then update your package with a new APFT and LOR. If you are not selected again, I believe you have to wait either 6 months or a year. I don't think there is a limit though, I have heard of people trying many times before being selected.

If not selected again, you have to wait 6 months and then submit another packet. The same process repeats indefinitely. There is no limit.

d10
He said the group responsible for selecting applicants is changing soon, and it is going to make the selection more difficult. Sounds like maybe the people who sit on your recruiting station's battalion board are changing and he thinks the new guys will be tougher than the old guys. That's my guess anyway.
