FAASTeam Safety Seminar Las Vegas,NV November 3rd 2012

Recommended Posts

Here is the link for registration for the FAASTeam Seminar on Sat. November 3rd 2012. Those attending HeliSuccess (November 4th and 5th) may register as well. Those looking to only attend the FAASTeam seminar please also register and there is no cost for this safety seminar.

If you register it will make it easier for me to assign FAA Wings credit.

We have new topics and an additional speaker this year. It is going to be a great presentation. Hope to see you all there.

Note: on the bottom of the seminar details page I do see the dates listed for HeliSuccess are incorrect and reflect the dates from 2010. The correct date did not save and it is to late to go back to edit.

Hey All,

We are really looking forward to this year's seminars.. Most of us arrive tomorrow or Friday. Saturday night we have booked but Sunday would work for the VR get together if that works for the rest of you.

We usually meet in the British Pub in the Hotel (don't remember what time we met last year, maybe Goldy or Mike can help there). As Mike said, go to the back of the bar as the room they give us is around the corner and some missed us last year.

I have three or four VR pins left from last year if anyone wants one, Lyn may have a few more, they are $10 and all the $$ goes to scholarships. I also have $158 that came from the AGRI bricks so that will go into the pot as well. Just call my cell and i'll get one to you. 720.232.1788

Also, if there is someone in particular that you want to meet that i can connect you with do not hesitate to ask.. we'll have a table at the job fair so we hope to meet you all. We are looking for some good pilots for Heli-Ops: CFII w/300 & 44 time preferred. Also, do not forget that i helped place many folks last year so if i can help, and you deserve it, i will try my best to point you in the right direction.

See you soon,

aloha,

Hey all, Zip, sorry i just finally logged on here at the Rivera to post about the VR get together, other wise i would have called you.

Mike, Lyn and a couple other friends met tonight at the Pub downstairs and reserved the back room for Sunday night at 6pm for our VR group. It's down stairs on the first floor, hope you all can make it.

Mike, Lyn and i have a meeting across town tomorrow am but will be back this way in the afternoon, maybe we can get together then.

see you soon,

The meeting place is the "Queen Victoria Pub". Go into the inside bar area and follow it around to the left and into the "back room"!

Last some of the VR group was sitting at the bar and did not find it.

They also have a good breakfast here, egg, bacon, sausage & pancakes for a decent price.

Their British burger is also great, had it twice this week already.

Mike

Edited to read Queen Victoria Pub!!!!!!

Sorry, tired old me.

Unfortunately I'm not able to make it this year but I was wondering if any of the presentations or guest speakers are going to be recorded for online viewing? I know there will be tons of valuable information shared over the next few days including the FAASTeam Safety Seminar which could be helpful too all. Just curious because I would be interested in watching any available. Thanks guys

I won't be there until tomorrow but count me in for the Sunday night meetup.

Bumping this up since the event is now over. Great weekend with lots of new and plenty of old friends. Well attended, since Lyn holds the room to 200 pilots. Sorry if you couldnt make it this year, put it in your calendar for next year. I was really impressed with the number of schools across the country that brought their CFI's and students to the event. Thanks to the presenters for doing such a great job. Randy Mains got a standing ovation after his wrap up..If you're a CFI you have to tell each of your students about this opportunity for learning, Great stuff!

Zippie- I'm 6-5, 245 pounds. The real question is how could you have missed me? I was also at the VR event at the British pub talking to the tall blonde.....and I was the guy constantly taking all the photos for the event....hard to miss.!

Well I remember a few people taking pictures, DP being one of them. Don't worry Zip, I missed him too!

The entire weekend was pretty awesome, though. Really good FAAST Seminar, followed by some really good speakers over the next few days. I definitely plan on going again next year.

It was pretty nice to, as a student, be able to meet some of the big wigs in this industry, as well as some of the hiring authorities at some of the larger operators.

Side note, rick said he posted his presentation, does anyone happen to know if Randy or Mike will be posting theirs? I took notes, but would really like to see the presentations again before I go talk to the Safety Manager at my school about what I picked up.

Hey all,

The show was awesome as usual.. Rick's wire strike presentation was one of my favorites, he had tons of data that was surprising.

I also really liked the new speakers, especially Randy, Dennis and Stacy. If you folks missed it, start saving and scheduling now so you can make it next year.

I will get back to how important this seminar can be for your future later, but just know that it's the best deal in the industry for networking.. period.

here is a link to the photos Goldy and i took, Emily took the one of us two.

Lee, my ADM/RM cherry drying presentation was both visual (not on screen) and oral.

My Video had tech problems and turned into an oral presentation but is available on faasafety.gov

What parts do you want?

Randy's pres. is proprietary and not for distribution.

First a big thank you to Mike, Randy and Rick for some great

presentations this year. I hope it was thought provoking and

raised some awareness.

I am glad to see so many attend this year, although more have attended

in the past. Next year I intend to make some minor changes based on feedback and to increase attendance. I was disappointed I could not attend the VR event or HeliSuccess this year. I have been so busy with work and family. I hope to spend more time with everyone next year.

Again, a big thank you for coming and to our speakers.

Ah, that's right, Mike. I forgot about that. I think your description of it was so good I made a video in my head. As it turns out, though, I've seen this one already on AOPA's website.

I'll shoot Randy an email and see what I can get out of him. I may not be able to get the presentation, but I'm sure he'd be willing to share.

It was definitely worth the rush to Vegas to attend the safety seminar! It was one of the high-points of attending heli-success! Smaller group there, but it was a benefit for those looking to network (me and my wife talked to Randy Mains for about 20 min) and many others without lines to try to meat these outstanding individuals. One thing I regret is not having some business cards made up in time. I ended up having to work 14+ hrs a day leading up to the event to make ends meet and didn't get to the print shop. It was great meeting everybody again but, I think we need to make ourselves easier to recognize. I didn't see many VR pins this year or people putting their screen names/face book names on their name tags. I vote for another scholarship pool next year. For those that missed this event, there will be another in March I believe at Heli-Expo. Maybe a good jump for another VR pin sale too, maybe start the scholarship fund early.

If you missed this event, I feel for you, it was priceless thanks JD!
