palmfish Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Some do. Personally, I don't get it. Doesn't it break the seal around the ear cup and increase the perceived noise level? Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 It keeps the sweat from pouring into my ears while sitting on a blacktop in central Texas in August. I don't worry about the ear seals, because I use CEPs. Quote
superstallion6113 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) I used one when I was in the Corps. I bought one from Oregon Aero that works great in conjuction with the ear cup covers . I saw no increased noise when wearing it, and no issues with my ear cups not sealing agains my head. Made those long 10 hour crew days much more comfortable. I used their 1/4" zeta liner and this skull cap. Super comfy. http://www.oregonaero.com/catalog/files/AS9100/index.php?option=com_rokecwid&view=ecwid&Itemid=381#!/~/product/category=9423076&id=36342402 These are the ear cup covers I used. I used the 1 1/8" ones, but fitment depends on what ear seals you have, I had the leather Oregon aero ones with Hush Kit on my helmet, that are in the second link below. In a CH-53E they helped quiet things down. http://www.oregonaero.com/index.php?option=com_rokecwid&view=ecwid&Itemid=381#!/~/category/id=9423062&inview=product36342321&offset=0&sort=normal http://www.oregonaero.com/index.php?option=com_rokecwid&view=ecwid&Itemid=381#!/~/category/id=9423065&inview=product36342334&offset=0&sort=normal Edited July 7, 2014 by superstallion6113 Quote
Yamer Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Where is the best place around Rucker to get CEPs made??? Quote
Velocity173 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Skull cap. Keeps sweat off the liner and makes for a more comfortable fit. Still use ear plugs these days. Edited July 6, 2014 by Velocity173 Quote
CharyouTree Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Where is the best place around Rucker to get CEPs made???The custom molded? Lyster. Go to the audiology dept, and ask. Quote
apacheguy Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 http://www.gibson-barnes.com/prod-294127/Military-Skull-Caps.html I wear this kind, got mine from ALSE out at Hanchey. Keeps your head funk outta your helmet no matter how hot it gets and doesn't mess up the fit. Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 http://www.oregonaer...t=0&sort=normalUmm... That's not a skullcap. A skullcap fits inside that. Quote
Yamer Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 The custom molded? Lyster. Go to the audiology dept, and ask. ok thank you Quote
Flying Pig Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I've always worn one. I have molded CEPs so I don't worry about it causin more noise. Yes it sweats through but I figure it keeps any head funk out of my helmet. I shave my head bald so I don't like the feel of my bare melon inside the helmet. Quote
brackac Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Tried them in flight school but never liked the fit. Just continuously messed with my helmet until I got it right. Quote
superstallion6113 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) Umm... That's not a skullcap. A skullcap fits inside that. My apologies. Somehow I copied the wrong link when I had a few pages open. Here is the correct one. http://www.oregonaero.com/catalog/files/AS9100/index.php?option=com_rokecwid&view=ecwid&Itemid=381#!/~/product/category=9423076&id=36342402 Edited July 7, 2014 by superstallion6113 Quote
