September 2014 WOFT board

Recommended Posts

Im sure theres plenty, I just don't think a high percentage are on this site. Most of the people I've seen on this site, get selected, they seem to be the people willing to do the research and put the effort into a good packet. So best of luck brother.

Exactly! This site, and the help available was definitely a factor in getting accepted. We are here for those you care enough to find us :) Good luck guys on this upcoming board!

So are we only rolling with 2 applicants this board? Me and WTFoski? Theres gotta be more out there ready to go. Or any civilian rollovers from July?

I'm applying this board...packet is due NLT 8 September and I interview 16 September. However, still awaiting my Ft. Rucker approval. Luckily I have a good recruiting command that's pushing for the approval. I don't want to wait another two months just because Ft. Rucker takes forever to approve my physical.

Your battalion board interview is coming up 16 sept? Or am I reading this wrong???

FWIW, there are three former civilian WOC aspirants who tracked me, as well as two other 160th CW4/5s, simply by doing a LinkedIn search and contacting us directly. Each asked if it was possible to meet in person for an interview and follow-on LOR.

One was local to our area, the other two lived several states away but showed up in person dressed professionally with hand outs, resumes and good interview skills. None of these are written anywhere as preferred techniques, but all walked out the door with a rockstar LOR and are now wearing WO1/CW2 bars at Rucker.

When you guys are shopping for LORs, especially civilian, remember that the goal isn't to have the most, it's to have the best. The boards I sat in on don't allow time to read 5 different letters, maybe the first and last paragraph of two. You're better off having two well written letters, rather than 5 ones with flowery writing.

What I can say is that of the three candidates, all of them had degrees, one close to her Masters. However, all of them had well rounded lives with tangible, documented evidence of leadership potential as Army Officers.

Very True!! I've spoken with at least 5 WOFT applicants locally and I've heard "Vertical Wut?" every time. The people who have never heard of this site, in my honest opinion, are a bit lazy. Just typing "WOFT" into Google yields this site as being the number 2 search result under the USAREC site. Now the ones who find this site, do a little reading, but don't actually participate is a totally difference metric. But I would venture to say that of the active participants on this site, we are close to a 99% selection rate. At least since I've been here and that's been about 2 years (1.5 active posting, the other just reading).

Got it boss. So your not going make selection board in sept, which sucks.

How do you figure? What dates are you referring to? Also, where can I find this information? I am told the Board Dates posted on the WOFT USAREC site are for current active duty personnel. I can't seem to get a clear answer on dates/timelines. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From what I've been told. This USAREC board starts September 15th. Cutoff for civilian packets is either 7 or 10 days before? Civilian WOFT is boarded every other month. If your battalion board is Sept 16th you will miss the USAREC board. Civilian WOFT packets are looked at on day one.

You interview with the battalion board is not a selection board, you do not appear before the actual board that does the selection. The bat board will yield and "go/no-go" type worksheet that will become the final piece of your packet that gets submitted to the final USAREC board.

I was just going off the dates you mentioned. You said your battalion board isn't until the 16th so you'd be the cutoff for this selection board by a little over a week. But don't let it bring you down a lot of us have missed numerous deadlines for various reasons. Most dates can either be found on this website or the official usarec site, just google search exactly what your looking for.

JeffinPA,

Are you using this source to determine the board date?

http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/WOgeninfo_boardschedule.shtml

If so, wouldn't my packet materials need to be due NLT 19th September? And if you're correct, I guess I'd be considered for the January board, which does suck!

WTFoski,

Thanks for the encouragement! What's your source based on the USAREC board? According to the website (which I'm told is only for active duty personnel) the packet materials are due NLT 19 September for a board date of 17-21 November. Worst possible scenario is that I have to wait another 2 months, or that they cut the program altogther, God forbid!

Ardo09203,

I understand the Batt Board is not a selection board and that I'm scored out of 75 point scale. I wish my recruiting command had some more information regarding the 'selection board' timeframe. I can't seem to get a simple, clear answer.

I see where the confusion is.... This thread is only for the sept SELECTION board. Every selection board someone makes a new thread. So yes your dates are correction your just on the wrong topic.

Happened to me too, dare I say it might just be "normal".

That was my initial question on page 1 when this whole thread started. By the term 'Board' I was unclear exactly of which 'Board' people are talking about. My recruiter keeps stating that I "Interview with the board" in September, translation = Battalion board.

I understand this thread is for the 'Selection Board' in which I'm sure most of you probably interviewed with your 'Battalion Board' probably in August or July. Am I correct in that assumption?

Further, if I'm interviewing September 16 and yield a 'Go' decision, will I go to the 'Selection Board' in November and find out if I'm selected or not in December? I'm trying to balance expectations.

I'm the first WOFT applicant at my recruiting station so they're limited in experience. Thanks for the help on these forums, I get a lot of good info.

What we have here...is a failure to communicate.

Lindsey,

I've lurked on your previous posts and have found vital info (to include that document you put together regarding getting a packet submitted) so I thank you for that!

In your expert knowledge and experience, if I'm interviewing with my Batt Board 16 September and yield a 'Go' or 75/75 decision is it safe to assume:

1.) My packet goes to the Selection Board in November? Does it really take two months from Batt Board interview to Selection Board decision?

2.) If selected in November, would I be notified shortly thereafter or sometime in December?

3.) If and when notified of selection, is it safe to assume that I'd be attending WOCS in late of FY 2015, say August forward?

Thanks, I'm trying to gauge timeline expectations. Feel free to PM if necessary.

From what I've read it will look something like this.

1) Board dates are set by USAREC. WOFT(civilian) gets looked at every other month. This may or may not include active duty. If your battalion board is September 16th, you will be submitted and reviewed by the November(next) board. If you are FQ-NS in November, you will be automatically looked at in December.

2) Typically you will hear about selection results a few days after the Selection board.

3) Dates vary. I've seen some people get dates 2 months out, and some get dates 10 months out.

You may have a better shot at selection on the Nov Board as it is the first board in a new FY
