Had the same issue! I was doing my 2mi run on the treadmill on a 2.0 incline in as low as 12:41! I go outside to run the actual APFT with my recruiter and I do it in 14:00. I was so mad! I am going to request not to take it on a 1/4 mile track next time if possible. Something about running in circles that messes with me mentally...

Dude, you were really running at 9.2 mph with a 2% incline on the treadmill for 2mi? Better not slip!!!! http://www.hillrunner.com/training/tmillchart.php

I think they tell pretty much everyone that simply because it COULD take that long. Mine took right at a month.

Just to confirm to make sure something didnt get screwed up. Is there a difference between a class 1A and a class 1W physical? I couldnt find anything with a search detailing the difference. They did a class 1W on me yesterday but I keep seeing everyone saying they got a class 1A. The most I could garner was class 1A is the commissioned officer physical. Im assuming 1W is the warrant physical?

Class 1A is the full deal when it comes to flight physicals. I've been to NAS Key West (closest flight surgeons) and gotten mine done in the past. However, when it came back stamped 'qualified', the Army folks at Rucker had notated on it Class '1W Flying Duty'.

I "think" it's just to differentiate between WOCS applicants, and commissioned applicants. A "class 1" is a class one regardless AFAIK.

Any medical types around here?

This is on the right track. The way it was described to me was the "W" means Warrant, and the "A" means officers. Class 1 Physical is the same no matter what designator follows the "1".

Tracking my progress. Decided to run flat out today and see where I am at. 13:45. Felt like I hit a wall at 1.5 miles. Hence the nice +40 on the second mile.

Not bad, I'm running around that time and scored a 290 on my pt. Funny though, I get a better pace towards the end. I think mine was 13:42...

Be careful, Flim's got the old man strength.

Na, crappy thing is the older you get, the harder it is to stay in shape.

Firepilot, actually you and I are pretty close in stats... I have you by a year or so!

Truth! I can't stop thinking about what it was like going through/coming out of boot camp in '05 at 19 y/o being 5'9" 160lbs. At that age, your body can really take a beating and bounce right back. Now, at 28 and 175lbs, I feel like I want to die trying to run like that again. Working on it though. Shaved 3 minutes off in a month.

The FL ARNG wants a min of 80 points in the run to be boarded which means I need to get below a 15:05. This is where I see those 21-22 y/o ROTC cadets having the upper hand.

I also initially joined back in 2005. It was much easier to pull of the good PT scores at 19.. I have been working hard on PT for a few months now, and had my final packet test on Monday. Got a 289! I was very happy to see the workouts pay off in the end. My breakdown was 78 pushups, 73 Sit Ups, and 13:23 2-mile. I'm 27 now, with my packet submitted! I will be in the July board for sure! =D Good luck to all of you, and keep at it!

Not to mention the fact that the standards are higher for the PT test. I already have to meet USASOC standards, which honestly isn't a big deal (70% APFT, 5-mile run for time, and 12-mile ruck for time). So, if I'm not out-doing most of the young guys I get pretty hard on myself.

If I have to re-submit for some reason, my next PT score the board will see will be 280+. Running in Colombia sucks though.

I played baseball as a pitcher in hisghschool, alot of running. Cardio/running was nonexistent my freshman yr of college. Tried to run later that summer and felt more out of shape then than when I really started seriously running about 7 yrs later. It's just a mental game for me, or maybe I'm naive about age.

One of the people writing a LOR for me asked about formatting. Does anyone selected have an LOR i could take a glance at?

Is it a military member or a civilian? If it's a civilian it doesn't really matter, but putting a letterhead on top will definitely help. Military, just write it in standard memo format.
