StockTrader Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Your run was good! You can build the others pretty quick... Good thing about Pt is you can do it again! Thanks. Guess i neglected pushups too much trying to improve my run. I actually miscalculated the first time. 13:18 is a 100 for my age group in the run so its a 261. I shaved 3 minutes off of the 2 mile in about a month and a half. Just gotta keep at it now. 1 Quote

Of course I've bumped mine up about 15-20 pts since then. Quote

I've never had 20/20 uncorrected but I passed my 1W physical just fine. There's also nothing in AR 40-501 that mentions any difference in standards between the class 1 physicals. The A/W is just an administrative annotation. Quote

What I stated used to be correct; it was the rule when I went through in 86 but I cannot tell you when it changed. But, I can tell you that I found this superseded previous copy of AR 40-501 dated 1998 which shows the distinctions in Chapter 4. http://nlgmltf.org/pdfs/40-501-1.pdf Edited May 18, 2014 by michael.scheller Quote

Of course no corrective lenses or surgeries were allowed either.  I believe 2000 they lifted the 20/20 rule and around 2002 surgeries (LASIK / PRK) were allowed starting on a trial basis. Quote
StockTrader Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Was informed that my next battalion board date is July 8th. My recruiter says he was told the cutoff date is July 1st. They are going to try and get me on the July board even though the dates are off. However, just as a heads up, he said they next USAREC board would be September but 153A isnt listed on the USAREC site for that board. Im going to take that with a grain of salt since we all know how March went. Quote

I would assume if 153A is not being selected that board, then it wouldn't matter- meaning it wouldnt count against you like a FQ-NS. But if it is being selected, then you're there when few others likely are due to the ill-informed. Just a thought. Quote
CO2WO Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 JeffinPA, The schedule I have shows 14 July as the next WOFT board with a 3 July cutoff. The next board is 15 Sep with a cutoff of 5 Sep. They have WOFT selection every other month from what I gather. The USAREC website schedule is only for AD Army looking to get boarded for a specific Warrant Officer MOS. WOFT is civilian only and the schedule is not posted publicly that I could find. Quote

StockTrader Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Finally can breathe a huge sigh of relief! Was worried that with the drawdown my physical might not be approved by Fort Rucker due to my surgery from 2005 that required a waiver. Spoke with Mr. Garcia today and he informed me that my physical was approved/qualified! 3 Quote
StockTrader Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 So my packet is now complete short of the battalion board. My board was cancelled and potentially rescheduled for August. However, today I received something that two months ago I was going to do nothing short of getting in my car and driving to the nearest Army base to try and obtain. LOR from a Command CW5. If any future candidates read this thread, heed my advice and tap your network. You may find that someone knows someone else who can put you in touch. Lucky for me, a friend of a friend went out on a huge limb and put me in touch with him. It was one of the best conversations I've had about WOFT. I learned a ton speaking with him and he was one of the most sincere and intelligent people I've had the pleasure of speaking with. I couldn't be more appreciative of the help I received in the last three weeks. 3 Quote
StockTrader Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 So this should give everyone a good laugh, and me a minor heart attack for the time being. Mailed out thank you cards to the people who helped with my letters of recommendation. Being the retired O-5, retired marine O-4, and the Command CW5. Go down to the post office to mail them, pay for postage and hand them off to the lady. What stamp does she pick to throw on there you ask?? Hearts. Yes, I now have thank you cards going out to a military base with bright red hearts plastered all over them. This should go over well.... 2 Quote

StockTrader Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Recruiter is telling me I need to do an interview for a secret clearance at MEPS. Did anyone else have to do this? Seems really late in the game for this to be a holdup now. Quote

Diesel5187 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I didn't, it's too much trouble if you forget something later on. I rather just come out with it. Quote
StockTrader Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 Just makin sure that I have to do this before battalion. Dont want to get held up anymore because something was forgotten. Ive burned a ton on vacation days completing my packet so I cant really afford many more days off. Quote
