Ross,

Make as many of the Rotorcraft Safety Challenge courses as you can. They are all free, pick and choose what you think will be valuable.

Thanks Mike!

Has anyone taken that private operator safety course? Sound like a good one.

Safety Management Systems for Small-Fleet or Private Operators

Wednesday, February 26 || 10:00 am to 11:00 am

Anaheim Convention Center

Instructor: Bryan Smith, Airborne Law Enforcement Association (ALEA) and International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST)

Professional Development Credit: FAA Wings program credit

Despite the significant increase in safety that safety management systems (SMS) has provided large operations, some aspects of these established systems make it difficult for smaller businesses or private operators to implement. This course will offer an overview of new SMS information and tools that will allow smaller commercial and private operations to reap the same safety benefits large operators have come to enjoy.

Attendees will learn to develop and implement an SMS in a small commercial or private operation. There will be an overview of new IHST SMS programs and tools they can utilize in this endeavor as well as tricks and techniques to successfully improve safety. Several free SMS tools will be made available during class.

As an instructor pilot, contract instructor, and ALEAs safety program manager, Bryan Smith has presented training material to pilots, flight officers, administrators, and law enforcement officers who utilize aviation assets across the United States.

Goldy,

I will be there only on Tuesday. Primarily for the job fair. Due to my current employment status I am unable to attend the full show.

Does anyone have a day pass they are not going to use? If so please let me know so I can talk you out of it.

Thanks.

I accept your Radiator Springs invite and challenge you to a race. I'm throwing down the pink slip on this race and need co-pilots to assure victory. 5 spots available first round. Who is with us?

Done and done. I'll even make a flippin' trophy.

Safety Management Systems for Small-Fleet or Private Operators ....

I did this one last year at Vega$. Bryan is very articulate and does a very good job with SMS fundamentals and how they relate to a smaller - private operator. I was also able to follow with his presentation on Developing & Utilizing Lead Indicators which helped with pragmatic application, but I don't think it is offered this year. Ask him for a copies of the presentations. Hopefully, you'll leave and be looking at more advanced & related courses.

I have controls...

2nd things first. Obviously, wear the VR pin (if you have one) or perhaps maybe do a small print of your VR avatar with handle.

Monday night is HAI reception at Anaheim Grand Plaza, 7 - 8:30. Nope, Goldy will not be there for the first time.

Tuesday after show closes - suggested that VR meet at ESPN zone in Downtown Disney. Informal & goes to whenever, but have it earlier so the manufacturer parties later in the evening can also be attended.

Maybe have recap same time & place for Wednesday & Thursday?

You have controls.

I get in tomorrow afternoon. I'll be at the HAI reception wearing my VR pin.

I'm here already and it's like Bell marketing vomited all over the place. They are making a big deal out of the SLS. It's going to be an exciting week. Anyone taking the Safety Challenge course NTSB Lessons from Helicopter Accidents tomorrow at 8 AM?

Posted

CT,

DP will be here today early. We had dinner together last night after involvement with things yesterday.

I spoke briefly in an educational class and he was on the floor taking pics.

I think I have an extra VR pin.

Nomad,

I should be in the NTSB early and then have to switch/admin in IHST presentations until 3PM and then be in Educational course presenting.

Hey All,

I have pins. I'll be at the NTSP deal around 8. I'll be wearing a brown jacket, blue shirt. Some IHST stuff thru out the day, then on the floor. At the VR get together (looking forward to connecting), then on to the Airbus Customer Appreciation after.

Hope to see you all. Txt (preferred) or call. 720.two3two.17eight8

I went 2 hrs after the park opened and they were already out of fast passes. It was a bit over 1 hr wait. It was way cool though, even though it was closer to a roller coaster than racing go carts. My boys loved it.

Did anyone make it to the ESPN Zone?

Posted

Was at ESPN zone after show, maybe 5:45. Empty in lobby, main bar and south bar & waited outside for awhile. No Expo badges visible. Jammed back over to Robinson party and saw DP, Mikemv, Palmfish, Spike & Goldy. Great to put faces 'n names to some & good to catch up with the others.

Maybe make the Robinson event the default VR rally point future forward? Kinda can't go too wrong with open bar and grub. And, almost all of us have at least a few hours of Robbie history in our books.

I'm planning on attacking more of the Safety Challenge Courses tomorrow...going to try to max out again & earning every token along the way.

Whoever is around tomorrow (Wednesday), at least try to make it to Mike's (Mikemv) class at 4:00 in room 304B [Helicopter Operator Structure & Pilot Responsibilities].

I would love to be at mikes class but, I volunteered to work ramp crew at angel stadium. Looks like I'm not getting my helmet this year.

Funny story. Gary and I were on the ramp at the same time when I flew the 429 and I only realized who he was when I saw him post the same pic that I took from the same location and realized we had stood right next to each other. Only caught up with DP and mike for a few minutes and Glody by phone. It's so full on at HAI. So many people you wish you had time to catch up with and missed :(

Yeah it snowballed for me, too. Much accomplished but the spare time was a causality. Would have liked to have seen more people off the show floor than I had the opportunity to. The constant changing from tie to flightsuit back to tie got old, too. Learned one thing, though: the tie getup is way warmer than the flightsuit.
