Medevac UH-72 and VIP transport UH-72, TH-67, AH-64A/D/E. Those are the ones I've flown anyway. Are you interested in the micro-climate cooling vests?

Wait, you've flown a 64A? I thought the alphas didn't have crew a/c... Just for the efab...

Yep, did the A model AQC back in 2001, just prior to 9-11. Went to OIF 1 with an A model battalion. Those birds had great A/C, used to spit ice chunks out on my kneeboard :D

As I recall, the EFAB is what the Longbow has, the A model has the FAB. But the A/C flows the same, from the condenser-compressor thru the FAB/EFAB into the cockpit. The Longbow lets you set a specific temperature for each pilot, the A model didn't have that feature.

Medevac 60s only have AC for the cabin. You could have it running full blast and it might change the cockpit temp by a degree or two.

Crack the window maybe?

Oh, that must be the difference I remember then, climate temp control. Oh well. And yes deltas have efab and alphas have fabs

-64A airflow was back seat, then front seat then through two 'FAB Fans' into the FABs.

The FAB fans were right by your ankles. If memory serves, there was a plenum/distribution system in the FABs for the boxes. That's what you'd see when you pulled the boxed and look behind them.

Why I remember this, after 12 years, and have trouble with EP's & Limits in my current rides, I'll never know. I wish I could reformat my noggin and dump this useless trivia.

I don't think anyone used that in Afghanistan. Too heavy.

Yeah I've heard of a few units that used them in Iraq but I don't think it was widespread. It was hot there but I'm not sure I would lug that thing around either. Just carry a cooler full Gatorade and hydrate. Never thought doors off made much of a difference.

Whiskeys got A/C....and when the system works - it's amazing - multiple times I have had ice chunks fly out from the vents into my face/helmet. A/C is routed and ventilated through the seat as well.

We used it in Iraq, you don't lug anything around the unit was hard mounted on a tray in between the CE seats, the cords run out to you.

Doing ring routes in Iraq it was a luxury as only a few of the aircraft had them
