Hey guys, my name is Kagan, Im in for the september board and just found this forum. I have been filling out my application over the past year and overcame many bumps in the road to be able to make the due date back in august.

Here are my stats:

Age:20

Asvab: 98

Gt: 126

Sift: 66

Apft: 270

High School GPA: 3.9

College GPA: 3.6

LORs: CW5, 3 Star Gen. , 2 retired Lt. Col.

No prior service

No prior logged flight hours

Ill be finishing my Associates degree this December.

Medical is cleared and ready

Passed board with all 3/3 recommendations.

I have been waiting to join the Army since december of last year and I cant believe selection is almost here. I am dying to get to basic training and proceed with my military career.

Guess we are all in the same waiting boat.

I have not turned in my packet or done my battalion board interview. I live on the east coast and the hurricane has delayed my security interview.

My security interview was done over the phone and from start to finish only took about 20minutes. Security interview is different than the battalion board interview.

So will civilian applicants find out if they're accepted on the 24th? I thought it was the 28th

My recruiter told me I would get a phone call the 24th.

And here I was thinking I'd be waiting till the 28th. Lol. I'm my recruiters first woft applicant so he don't know too much about it. He's done a good job tho.

Anyone else still pending a waiver? Recruiter said my package is at the proponent/waiver level.

Just stressed that Im not ready for Monday yet

Im still pending a waiver as well. Been that way since July. Recruiter seems fairly certain Ill get in this board but Im very nervous.

I spent some extra time finding recruiters who had done the process before and were well educated on the process. It didnt keep us from hitting a good ammount of speed bumps along the way but its good to have someone who knows the process around.

Lucky

That is... IF I get selected. Same goes for the rest of us.

True. Just jealous civ applicants get to find out earlier than AD. Good luck though!

Yeah I dont know if I could wait the extra 4 days to the 28th lol. You prior/current service members get the higher % of flight seats from what Ive heard.

100% of street to seat typically get selected, where at least one person doesnt get selected on the AD board so that % is lower for us AD wise. Although idk how things have been in the past before 2017

Haven't heard that before, any idea as to why that is? The 100% street to seat selection.

Been watching these boards for a few months now. I submitted my packet for AD back in May for the July board. Obviously got FQ-NS since Im posting here. I think my issue was, I only had a CW4, my ERB assignment history wasnt squared away, and I didnt catch the grammar error my commander left on his LOR.

Here are my stats just to give you an idea lol.

Age:28

GT:128

SIFT:54

APFT:293

TIS:SSG just hit 10 years 10SEP18

Physical is good with a waiver

LOR: 1 from Btry Commander, 1 From BN Commander, 1 CW4 standardization pilot.

I wound up redoing my unit LORs, my DA61(going to suck if Im FQ-NS since my readmission date will be pushed back further), and my summary. Being in Air Defense kind of sucks since Im no where near any aviators and I only met this one by chance! Anyways, good luck to everyone in September.

Whered you get this info?

Whered you get this info?

There is about a 4:1 ratio of AD Applicants to Civilian Applicants. Also, there are a lot of factors, far more than for Civilians, that go into accepting or denying AD applicants. But yes, Civilians tend to have a much higher % selected on boards right now.

From what Ive heard previously, prior service applicants get first pick over civilian applicants. Looking back on the forums of previous selections this year, it doesn't look like there is a significant advantage to being prior service in selection. Especially since it has been 100% selection for civ, as you guys are saying.

No thats not correct. Civilians are chosen prior to AD (if thats what you meant by Prior service, as civilians could technically be PS). They are two separate sessions of the board's same convening, and civilians are boarded first.

From my understanding, AD members have other factors that come into play for whether or not they are selected. Current MOS, Army strength numbers, Military record, Age, longevity (i.e. military retirement potential), etc. could be factors.

Outside of those things I'm not entirely sure how the board selects when it comes to allocated slots. It could be the Army would like a certain number of slots allocated for civilians and a certain number allocated for AD; Since more AD members are applying at one time, all the slots may get eaten up to quickly to select all..

EDIT: Nevermind - I see you meant PS gets an advantage over non-PS in the civilian runnings.

Any word on your waiver. Im getting nervous with one more day to go lol

I was told directly from USAREC chief of the board they review all waivers the Friday prior to the board, and process as many as possible. They have been given a recommendation of approval or disapproval by proponent prior to, so it's a fairly simple process. Yes or no. I believe the age waiver comes from a higher source within HQDA-G1. I would stay patient until tomorrow around 5 central, then call your recruiter. Good luck!

I know the feeling. Thankfully I got a phone call at lunch today from my recruiter. Looks like Ill be board ready as of tomorrow. Hoping he wasnt just blowing smoke lol. Good luck to you, I know its nerve racking and frustrating having no control over the situation.
