I've lived on some pretty small FOBs. As long as there's food and somewhere to shower I'll take that over living on a boat any day. Not getting shot at sounds kind of boring actually.

Yeah I have no desire to be on a boat, I'll take this FOB for sure. A boat just seems easy, and boring so yeah it sucks too ha.

Its boring, and when Marine higher ups get bored, sh@t gets stupid, quick. Also, sleeping in a 5x2x2 box for 6 months.. hitting your head when you wake up. Its mostly the fact that you've got nothing to do and if you want to get away there's no where to get away to!

This is quickly devolving into who has it worse. So, I suggest this be the last word on the subject and move the discussion back to the movie. If getting shot at, working long hours, being uncomfortable and living without what most would consider necessities does not appeal to you . . . find another profession. FOB life sucks, boat life sucks and deployed base life sucks . . . . got it. 'nuff said. Semper Fly.

I put faith in yal that it was a good movie and bought it on iTunes... took like three days to download since the internet over here is terrible but I think it was worth it. Heck it even gave me something to look forward to.

PhrogGuy you are correct sir. Embrace the "suck". I know I said it sucks, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.... really odd I know. OK OK that was it, strictly on topic from here B)

Yamer, you don't need Hulu Plus. It's free for non-paying users.

I finally got around to watching Speed and Angels. Great movie! I wasn't expecting it to be a documentary. Jay's combat footage was pretty intense! Thanks for sharing the info with us!

While I've never stayed on a boat, aside from a cruise ship, I have worked on offshore platforms/rigs. I know if im going stir crazy after 14 days on a rig, 6 months on a boat must be miserable.

Life on a boat as a pilot and officer is much different than a junior Marine grunt (insert any MOS here.)

Very much agree with this statement. But, Hotdogs, watch this movie if you havent.

Heres another one if you have a few hours to kill.

The entire series is on youtube.

Deployed life beats ship life. Hands down, the 20ft conex I shared in bagram was more room than alot of Commanding Officers get on board a ship.

Disclaimer: Individual experiences during deployment will vary.

I watched the movie a few weeks ago and I like it so much I showed it to my mom.

She was pretty impressed. The first time I watched it I got my IPAD out and started stuyding 5 & 9 again because I felt like I wasn't doing enough compared to what those pilots go through.

In other news I got picked up for a VIP C-12 deployment to Kuwait for 9 months.
