Karver Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I've seen Army personnel wearing both the universal camo and now the Multicams. Which ones are they now giving out in BMT? Can you opt to wear either once at your base? Also, what is the norm for when to wear them? Should you wear them when traveling for temporary duty or traveling to deployment? I see a lot of uniformed servicemen in airports and other public areas. Quote
napoleonpp Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm guessing most of the time they think its cool, wanting free upgrades or Stolen Valor Quote
Rob Lyman Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm guessing that they are traveling to/from deployment, AIT, or another event that requires them to wear the uniform while traveling. Usually you are required to travel in civilian attire, but in rare circumstances as mentioned above you must travel in uniform. Last time I traveled in uniform was for R & R coming from and going back to Kuwait/Iraq. Too bad R & R leave is a thing of the past. Quote
RagMan Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 They got rid of R&R leave altogether?! What the french, toast??!!!! Quote
CharyouTree Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 They got rid of R&R leave altogether?! What the french, toast??!!!!A few years ago. I was very disappointed to hear the news on that one. I was looking forward to an Australia trip. Quote

Yes, you can wear either of three patterns until 30 Sep 2019, UCP, OEF-CP (multicam), or OCP (scorpion pattern); after that it's only the new pattern. Quote
Dbargs Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I didn't know there were two multicam patterns, does anyone have a visual of the differences? I've never heard of the scorpion pattern. Quote
CO2WO Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 OCP on the left, OEF-CP on right. Very slight difference in the pattern, but the uniforms are quite different. Quote
Karver Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Does the unit impose restrictions on which one you must wear? Or do you see people in the same unit wearing different uniforms? Both those new ones are pretty sweet, btw. Quote
CO2WO Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 They aren't supposed to, but it has happened, especially when the new stuff was rolling out. The wear-out date (30 Sep 2019) is there for a reason, commands shouldn't be forcing soldiers to pay for new uniforms, but peer pressure happens.... Also FYI, the one on the right isn't new. It's been around for quite sometime, just strictly reserved for deployments. Quote

napoleonpp Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Correct me if I'm wrong but you can still wear multi-cams after the wear out date right? That's what I've been told anyways and hoping it's right Quote
CO2WO Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 That is incorrect. After 30 Sep 2019 only the OCP is authorized.See below;http://www.army.mil/e2/c/downloads/396739.pdf Quote

Lots of units violate the uniform policy when new stuff comes out - Sergeant Major needs to have something to bitch about. Quote
