skyreaper Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Saw this on my facebook feed, apparently the human centipede is required for the spur ride... Paratroopers perform a team pushup in unison during the battalion’s Spur Ride qualification course. Also, at what point does one receive their stetson? Is it unit dependent or do all Army Aviators receive one? Very much looking forward to that... call it brain washing from watching Apocalypse Now. Quote
jeepster32 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 This is a BBQ place, not a CH47. Looks damn cool. 20140418_144728 by KiowaDriver, on FlickrIs this in Korea? Quote
akscott60 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Join a Cav Unit. Buy a Stetson. Wait until you have an official Stetson break in until you wear it (if a stetson break in is still allowed). Drink a sh*t load of booze out of it. Get sick.Wear it in the shower the next day to clean it. Quote
jeepster32 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Yes.I'm at Osan and want to go here, you wouldn't happen to have the location would you? 1 Quote

Only Cavalry units wear Stetsons/spurs. Only 58D pilots are in cav units, unless you wangle some sort of non-flying job like LNO. Or you could just buy a Stetson and wear it around the house. Quote

Would feel weird if I wore something around thats typically earned. Quote

Not the same as being 'assigned' to a Cav unit which AH-64s stopped doing during the great army aviation transformation of the GWOT. Remember 1-6 CAV at Hood, 2-6 and 6-6 in Illesheim, and all the other Apache Cavs that went away... Quote

I've never had any ambition to be army cav. I've always found that red and white guidons Quote
skyreaper Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 UBL, the founder and head of the Islamist militant group Al Qaeda, was killed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011 shortly after 1:00 am PKT by Navy SEALs of Naval Special Warfare Development Group. The mission named Operation Neptune Spear was a successful collaboration of multiple high tier U.S. assets coordinated by the Central Intelligence Agency. In addition to DEVGRU, participating units included the U.S. Army Special Operations Command's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) and CIA operatives. via oafnation.com Image link: http://sofrep.com/10779/interview-with-a-night-stalker/ Quote
brackac Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 NIghtstalkers took part in the raid that killed Bin Laden. Yeah. Quote
brackac Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Who else would have flown them? Not going to get into that conversation. Quote
Velocity173 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I know an Apache crew that extracted a downed 58 crew in Iraq around 2006 timeframe. Got DFCs out of it. 1 Quote
Jester2138 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Who else would have flown them? He might be talking about Flight Concepts, but that would be strange. Any more hush hush groups than the 160th wouldn't be doing a covert direct action raid in full-fledged military helos when the 160th is already fully trained for that sort of thing. Quote
Rob1237051 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 One of the groups we used to work with in Iraq had "our ops are blacker than your ops" on their door. Sums it up quite nicely. I swear people just like talking about how much secret stuff they know...defeats the purpose doesn't it? 1 Quote
