pilot#476398 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Just in case anyone starts a poll for the unemployed? I flew a whopping 14.5 hours last year! Quote
Alpha Elite Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I am not to far behind. thus far this year i am at 7.2hr.... am being assured though that i will get more in the coming weeks. atleast i have gotten 6 in the past 45 days. Quote
Wally Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Average for EMS is 150-200 annual. I like 400-500 except that in this job, that would mean being assigned or doing paperwork all day, every day. Before computers, it was one form after a run, weekly and monthly paper reports. Quote
Flying Pig Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I hit right about the 500 mark and I still feel like I spent most of the year pacing around the hangar 1 Quote
Dnr032 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I have flown 325-350 hours per year, consistently for the past 15 years. That amount is just about right; not enough to be too over worked, not so little as to be bored and 'pacing around the hangar.' Besides, at this point in my career and age, anything more than 400 hours a year hurts too much anyway..... 1 Quote
rotormandan Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I'm with pig. I always figured 5-700 was a standard pilots year. At least it has been in all the jobs I've worked. You feel like you put on some work without being overworked, and still had plenty of time to pace the hangar. Quote
Eric Hunt Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I have averaged 333 hrs a year for 45 years, some years higher (900 in a school) and some lower (80 in 9 months EMS) but it always seems to be the right amount when I am in the job. Quote
280fxColorado Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Two years straight of pipelining, 2500 hours flown. It was a good ride, but I'm glad that chapter is closed! My lower back and hearing will never be the same... 1 Quote
fleman202 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Two years straight of pipelining, 2500 hours flown. It was a good ride, but I'm glad that chapter is closed! My lower back and hearing will never be the same... Holy cow 280! Thats a lot of sitting! Are the enstroms like the robinsons, where the fuel range is about an hour and a half longer than the seat comfort? What headset do you use? Quote
akscott60 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I flew about 160 hours last year. Pretty standard for a non deployed Army pilot. This year is different. I have flown almost 200 hours since Feb. Quote
zippiesdrainage Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Put in over 500 during the 6 months doing tours. 6 days a week and 11 hour days, but my log book isn't complaining. If the season hadn't ended or if I had managed to find some flying work since I could have logged even more. Quote
rotormandan Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Sounds like you were flying in east TN. Quote
aeroscout Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 I am struggling to get 10 hours a month right now. And heading into the cold weather months things are not looking up.I have had years of 700 hours or more and prefer those. I don't know how much longer I can last at 120 hours a year. Quote
Five0 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Consider getting dual rated. I added a f/w license (Comm/IR) and went from flying pistons to turboprops in a few years. I also fly a 300c for another guy doing some instruction and ranch type flying. One of the turboprop owners now has a 206 that I fly as well. I fly 500 hrs/yr. Never would have happened had I not decided to add the fixed wing ratings. Met a lot of people along the way because everyone I've flown for puts my name out to other aircraft owners. It has really snowballed for me. It could for you too. Just have to keep a good attitude and a good rep. Good things will happen. Just my 2 cents. Quote
eagle5 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 How about tripple rated? Blimp pilot anyone? Quote
Fred0311 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Aeroscout, what kind of work are you doing at only 120 hours a year? Quote

Bootcamp Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 How about tripple rated? Blimp pilot anyone? I just earned my commercial glider license last week. Balloon rating...here I come! Quote

R22139RJ Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 What's the poll on Avbug's yearly hours? 10$ says it's around 13,000, 14,500 on a leap year. Quote

Francis Meyrick Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Coming up to 600 hrs so far this year. wrapping up 10 1/2 years in the Gulf of Mexico and Angola, and averaged 500-550 a year. But going EMS next, so that will plummet. More time, mebbe, to scribble and finally finish that second novel. Burn out my battered laptop. I found up to 5-6 hours a day regularly, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Start pushing me to do 7 or 7.5 hours a day, every day, maybe 7 hours... 57 minutes... and I somehow start feeling... grumpy. Not as fresh. Just me. 2500 in 2 years...? Holy buttocks...!? Quote
