walkerman180 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 So I just found out I branched Aviation out of ROTC! Any other new Aviation Officers out there? Flight Vets: any advice/comments/do-this/don't-do-that type advice for us newbies? 1 Quote

RagMan Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 In all reality, he's right about getting appointed as a Warrant. If you want to fly, go Warrant; Hands down. Quote

walkerman180 Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Here's a question. What can I be studying now to get ahead of the game? Quote
Bootcamp Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Here's a question. What can I be studying now to get ahead of the game? TH-67 limitations and emergency procedures. Also the Rotorcraft Flying Handbook. If you PM me your info, I have a few study card decks I can send you. Quote
Tradewinds Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Depending on when they report, will some that have branched Aviation this year start training on the Lakota. Will the study guides be the same as far as the 5&9's Quote
Tradewinds Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 No they are different. When do they foresee switching over from the TH-67 to the Lakota? Quote
Cantankerously Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 When do they foresee switching over from the TH-67 to the Lakota?next year sometime I believe. My IP in primary was getting ready to go to the Lakota course. Too bad...the -67 is fun. Quote
walkerman180 Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 So I just looked up the Lakota and I'm pretty impressed. Does anyone know if they are planning on having all future aviators train on this or will some still train on the -67? Also is the Lakota going to be an airframe available for AD pilots? Quote

Also is the Lakota going to be an airframe available for AD pilots?Yes they are planning to divest the TH-67. The lakota already is an active airframe but only for stateside missions. Some guard units have it already also, like the PAARNG. Quote
Tradewinds Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Also is the Lakota going to be an airframe available for AD pilots? As JeffinPA said, the Lakota is already used in AD but limited use CONUS. The Lakota is not one of the Airframes that are available for selection in Flight School. Quote
Yamer Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 At the soonest it'll be next fiscal year I think. The IPs here are still rotating into learning it so it's gonna take some time. 1 Quote
