Civilian board over and done with! I received a 71/75 with full recommendations and good review notes.

The hardest part was sitting with my hands flat on my legs and my feet flat. It's hard to not use your hands when you are trying to confidently answer a question. My board was made up of two ROTC officers (LTC and captain) and the recruiting captain.

I was expecting the first question to be general where I could tell them about myself and hit a few of my points. Instead I was asked to name 3 achievements I was proud of from school which threw me off for a minute.

Congrats on your successful board!

Mine is tomorrow. I hope it goes just as well.

False alarm, postponed until Nov. 9th

I had my board interview for the National Guard last weekend. Was actually notified of my selection by the guy who encouraged me to join and pursue aviation. President of the board called him with the results and told him give me the news in person. Pretty neat moment.

How long did your interview last? Did they go after your weak spots on your packet? Ive heard a lot of mixed information on these boards.

Mine was about 20 minutes. First question from the board president was about my APFT score, which is the weakest part of my packet. First question from the next board member was about a class I failed in college. They gave me the opportunity to explain both of those things and to talk about how I learned from the experience. Other than those two questions, most of the board was trying to get a sense of how I'd fit in the Army and if I had any strings attached (debt, loans, etc.) that would hold me back.

From what I've heard, the board can vary wildly depending on the location that yours takes place, so my experience will probably be different than yours.

Im hoping the VR community can answer a question for me. I finished putting together my packet in October. The only remaining items are the security interview and the battalion board.

My recruiter tried setting a phone interview with the security interviewer on the battalion board deadline day in October, but the interview didn't happen. Im hoping to make the December battalion board, but still need this security interview. Is this something I can schedule on my own if the recruiter doesn't make it happen? Also just to confirm, the security interview must be done before the battalion board, correct?

Happy Holidays!

My security interview was done about a week after i was selected. So it may vary by station. IIRC they said they like to get them done sooner rather than later due to turnaround time.

Mine was the same as StockTrader. Did my security interview when I first went back to MEPS after getting selected. Then it only took 13 months for me to get my final clearance....I believe all you need for your packet to be submitted is your SF-86 completed so you are able to get your security interview at a later date.
