Dutch Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 On Hulu you can find a show called "Ultimate Factories". One of the episodes goes inside the AH-64 Apache helicopter factory and you get to see how they are made, pretty cool episode. I just wached this, and boy the thing that I learned about my airframe. They actually show a grey apache at the factory. Quote
akscott60 Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Im pretty sure a guard unit on the east coast took grey 64As to Iraq. Quote
Velocity173 Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Im pretty sure a guard unit on the east coast took grey 64As to Iraq. Yep, South Carolina Guard went to Iraq in 2004 with Gray Apaches. In my unit they told us we were going to get our Hawks painted gray in early 2004 but it never got approved. Active Army settled on olive drab instead for deployment. I couldn't attach it but there's a video on YouTube that shows SCANG. Just search "The Long Gray Line" and it'll come up. Quote
electron_si Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 i wish i could see videos at work. Quote
Dutch Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 There was a lot of feelings hurt when SC told big army that they dont have money to paint the planes back to OD. The greys are long gone, moved up to block one now. Here is the link. Quote

I3uller Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 Found this pretty dated recruiting video for the 160th. The editing and graphics are pretty...era specific...but still neat. http://youtu.be/-Q5OG7wm6yE Quote

Lindsey Posted February 6, 2013 Report Posted February 6, 2013 I'm gonna get shot for so many posts in a row... This premiered tonight (missed it):http://www.army.mil/...de_Airs_Feb__5/ Top Gear featuring the 101st Airborne. The week long production combined Hollywood magic with the military might of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), as the Screaming Eagle Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team and 159th Combat Aviation Brigade became part of the show's cast. ... The staged scenario places Foust and the SUV, two high valued targets, deep into Fort Campbell's training areas and given the mission to escape its pursuers. The 101st Airborne's task is to capture Foust alive and obtain the vehicle still in one piece. During the chase, the 101st uses RQ-7B Shadow Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters, UH-60 Black Hawk Utility Helicopters, OH-58D Kiowa Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters, Oshkosh Multi-All Terrain Vehicles and of course Soldiers wearing Old Abe unit patches with boots on the ground.
