akscott60 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 If you are a SERE C grad, with appropriate documentation, you should have no issues skipping it at Rucker... 1 Quote

SemperGumby Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Rgr, thank you. Its on my OMPF/MBS and I have the actual school house certificate. We had a Marine from 3rd Recon in our WOCS class, he skipped SERE. Like everyone else said, you will be skipping it. Quote
Velocity173 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Where is sere conducted? In and around Rucker. Quote

Velocity173 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) So its basically on site. Didn't know if we went tdy to another locationNah, it's all around Rucker these days. SERE B, I never left Rucker. SERE C, you'll be in various places in and around Rucker. Edited March 13, 2014 by Velocity173 Quote
Yamer Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) one has a b and one has a c, lmao. They are classified courses. Edited March 13, 2014 by Yamer 1 Quote
Talon64 Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Ooooh I see. Yamer, where are you in the process? Quote
Velocity173 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 What's the differenceLol! Kinda been through this already. What goes on during the course is classified. Once you get to Rucker all your student buddies will fill you in anyway. A word of caution. I've known students who have gotten sent back because they had a little too much gouge on the course. Don't let that be you. Quote
Talon64 Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 I feel you velocity. I'm not trying to get specifics on the course per say. Just didn't know if the letters meant like normal sere or Arctic survival type sere or maybe they represented a different location etc. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Quote

You can volunteer for Arctic survival once you get to your unit. Had a friend do that in Germany. Think he went to Norway for the course. I'm not a cold person so no way I'd volunteer for that nonsense. Quote
Lindsey Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If anyone coming up through the pipeline is worried about HOST/Dunker, don't be. We just received a brief today and Dunker will be eliminated from flight training beginning in October as another way of saving money. We were told the decision has already been made.* *Standard it's-the-Army-so-things-can-always-change disclaimer applies. Quote
Creep0321 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Ha, I loved doing the dunker, it was a lot of fun for me, that sucks they are getting rid of it though. Quote
Yamer Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Ha guess hhc doesn't know yet cause I just got a dunker paper from ms brown today. That's kind of cool I guess, I'm not sure how I feel about this change yet Quote
d10 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Not really. I spent my career between Campbell and Afghanistan. Dunker for everyone has always been unnecessary. If you go to a unit that operates over water it can still be a local training requirement. 1 Quote

apacheguy Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 If the army can save a nickel by closing down the dunker, they will. It's 1999 all over again. Pretty soon you'll have to pay for your MRE's when you go to the field. 1 Quote
Talon64 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Good thing i have like 10 boxes of MREs saved from these tech schoolers 1 Quote
akscott60 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I just did a HEEDS recert because of our overwater missions. Always fun. They are going to make a Dunker program out here in the ROK. Quote
AVIATORWANNABE Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I would rather do SERE then spend extended periods of time in B Co. Quote
