Maybe thats an S2S requirement because I didnt have that for AD

Yeah, you're probably right on that one.

Also to note. I also had an age waiver.

Also from someone on the board and schoolhouse. If you get FQ-NS your first time go,  you're very likely to pickup on the next go around. They can only take about 65 applicants PER board for 153A. There are hundreds that apply. If you were FQ-NS on the first one, you'll be on the top of the list on the second go around.

I also hear that 5 LOR's is the sweetspot (I also picked up on this board)

So I signed my contract at MEPS today to ship out Oct. 4 and start WOCS Jan. 5. However, when I signed the contract it was for 3 years 17 weeks. I was under the impression that it would be for 10 years. Could somebody explain that to me? Is there another contract that I’ll sign after WOCS?

They are definitely trying to bump up the number of people recently it seems, there were 76 Active Duty Accepted and 22 S2S Accepted - the acceptance rate to S2S was about 65% for the May board.

From my understanding the 10 yr active duty obligation starts after graduation from flight school (I may be incorrect). I go in tomorrow morning to sign my contract so I'll see what mine says and ask.

Usually more on this board, and the one after the next because officers can only apply 2 boards a year and this was one of them so the numbers were a bit inflated :)

So for you, the WOFT is contingent on you passing basic and WOCS. If you fail WOCS/WOFT you will probably go into the army regular (so don't f**k it up)

In your packet was a form stating a six year obligation upon appointment as a warrant officer. You'll sign another version of that form prior to graduating WOCS. That is the last form you will sign, any subsequent ADSOs are just assumed by regulation after completing whatever course you take it rank you promote to without any paperwork.

If you would've signed for the full term of your actual post flight school obligation it would be about a 12 year initial contract length. What you signed is the minimum active duty obligation (3 years) plus your time to complete basic training and WOCS. If you fail to complete training you can be reclassed to another MOS and that's what you will be required to serve, plus the five years in the reserve that is not frequently mentioned.

This man Army's; he forgot to mention it will more-than-likely be a needs-of-the-army position (IE you don't choose it) so humble yourself in your Army schools and don't fail. :)

Quick ship to Basic Training...19JUL...WOCS 6OCT

Hey, your son and I have the same report dates, but I’m heading to Fort Leonard Wood. I’ll be seeing him at WOCS though. Congratulations to both of you on the selection.

I also made it! (AD E5).

If you are NS-NC hmu and lets look at your packet. That means non-competitive so something needs adjustment.

That would be great, I appreciate it! PM me your email and I will send it to you. Thank you!

Ditto...I know the S2S packet inside out...I also know the process and I have an inside scoop to what the board really “cares” about...what is important.  Bottom line, this is not a board you prepare for in mere months...it takes time to get the right things in order...make your packet strong by hitting certain paramount gates.

Oh yeah for sure. The best thing I can do over the course of my wait is soak as much as I can and learn from those who made it, and come back with a very strong packet next year!

Why do you say next year? Can you only apply once a year for S2S?

I don't like this. You can know inside info all you want, but if you want to differentiate yourself, there are some key factors., and no amount of preparation can make the difference sometimes. Making it on your first go is by the flip of a coin, the quality of the other applicants vs you. Sometimes people are just more qualified and that's just the way it is. Shoot me what you got, and maybe we can discord chat. If you cut the mustard, maybe we can get you talking to some good guys that have an actual say.

GreenGo24,

I'll just tell you, from my personal experience (I was just selected first look on the May board - S2S) I had to do just about everything myself, I scheduled my own flight physicals and everything - I was street to seat but I am prior service so I had a bit of knowledge about this) you will need to find an army flight surgeon that is willing to see you. You will also need some sort of letter authorizing you to be seen by them, talk to MEPS regarding this. I want to set your expectations though, without having an approved flight physical currently your chances of making this July board are next to none - the flight surgeons are generally backed up and even if everything goes perfectly, it will still take a few weeks to get the physical stamped by Ft. Rucker.

I would shoot for the following board and take the time to ensure you submit a quality package. I know this isn't the news you wanted to hear, this package takes time - if your recruiter isn't willing to put in the work, you'll either have to go the extra mile to do it yourself or find another recruiter that will.

Side note - if you have any speeding tickets or anything of the sort with a fine over $100.00 your recruiter will need to submit a moral waiver which can take a few weeks to get back - this caused me to miss two boards. If you like you can message me privately and I can guide you the best I can.

Lumin,

Thanks for all the helpful insight and tips. I will definitely be reaching out. I visited with my recruiter a couple of days ago and filled out some pre flight physical paperwork. He has sent those back over to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. From my understanding, we are just waiting for an appointment date from the flight physical coordinator. Hopefully, this happens sooner than later. Its been a few days and I haven't heard anything back from yet. Will check in today. Just have to keep pushing forward on the process. As you know, this packet isn't over night. Lots of hard work and hours spent, but I know it will be worth it all in the end.

Your flight physical will be two parts...hopefully you can do it all on one day (morning and afternoon), especially if you live far from the medical clinic.  Once the physical is complete and submitted to Fort Rucker for evaluation and determination you will most like have the results in less than two weeks.  And yes, stay the course...it’s arduous if you really want to chase this opportunity!  Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey I am going to the July board and in my WOFT application, though I wanna go active duty, my recruiter and his command are marking reserve, when I asked about this they said "You or anyone can't request for active duty WO1. It's a reserve option until you make WO2". Did y'all have this??

He is correct that the reserve box Hass to be checked… However, he is not correct in saying that you are a reserve officer until CW2.  No worries.  The board is for active duty unless you came in and applied through a Reserve component unit or the National Guard.

Nope, you are technically appointed a WO1 in the Reserve serving on active duty until you pin W2. It's some weird bureaucratic nonsense required by regulation.

Just received ATRRS reservations:

Jan 18th WOCS date, March 18th WOBC(A).

If anyone has a similar class date and is looking for a roommate, shoot me a DM.

Are you AD or RC? I’m RC, waiting to see mine come through.
