StockTrader Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Was just looking through USAREC for any recent updates and came across this. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FOR ARMY APPLICANTS: Due to several fraudulent LOR submissions by applicants, all Active Duty Army applicants will now be required to use USAREC Form 1936 and the recommender will be required to digitally sign the form. If a recommender cannot sign the form due to extenuating circumstance, these will be entertained on a case-by-case basis. Furthermore, the recommender MUST include their unit info, e-mail, and phone number in the bottom of the narrative. Who in the world is ballsy enough to submit a false LOR? As if they wouldnt find out at some point?! Im guessing even IF they were selected, their contract would be voided immediately. Just found it crazy that people would even try this. Quote
Creep0321 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Speaking of LOR's have any sister-service applicants/selectee's had to use memo style LOR's? If so would you be willing to forward me one so I can take a look at formatting? Thanks. Quote
Optamix Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I came over from the AF, I submitted first with Memo style LORs and I had to have them put on the 1936, but they were just physically signed with contact info since we didn't have the software to sign the Army form. I didn't have any problems submitting them. Quote

If thats the case, I should be able to do that, I think. And thank you for the response. Quote
Creep0321 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Awesome, thanks again for the reply. Also I remember reading in a post on here that there was a specific statement that the Aviator LOR had to contain, but I can't find anything on that, does anyone have any insight? Quote
CO2WO Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Creep,Just to add more mud to the murky water, I was selected in May and only one of my LORs was on the USAREC 1936 (now the USAREC 3.3 by the way). I was planning on putting all of mine on that form, but my recruiter said it was unnecessary. PM your email if you need a template. Quote

Creep0321 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 So I googled the 3.3 and also found a few other forms 3.2 and 3.1 I suppose I should use these updated forms? and they are in .pdf so that makes it a lot easier for me. Quote
Velocity173 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I think there are quite a few people who are ballsy enough to forge an LOR. We had a couple of people in my last unit who had S-1 change their ASVAB scores in the system. Once it was found out, the two were pulled out of WOCS for an honor violation and the offenders in the S-1 shop were punished as well. They're out there. Quote
FLYC2A Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I think this is for active duty applicants only....correct? Quote
Diesel5187 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I think this is for active duty applicants only....correct?Yep, it does not apply for civilians, regardless, you really shouldn't use a forged LOR. Quote
Heericane13 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 So been all over the usarec website and I need the 1936 that needs to be digitally signed. Anyone out there have one of these??? All I can find is the PDF version. I am AD, and have been reading the new rules and the PDF one isn't going to work for me. Thanks Quote
Creep0321 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 The .pdf form 3.3 form is the new version of the USAREC 1936. The 3.3 as a .pdf can be digitally signed. http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/WOpdownload_forms.shtml http://www.usarec.army.mil/im/formpub/Forms.htm If neither of these work for you, shoot me a PM and ill try to get you a blank version that I used. TriViper Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I received all of my LORs a little more than a year ago, but in the process of submitting my packet now. Is there an expiration date on LORs as it relates to civilian applicants? Quote
Airman_gone_soldier Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I had an LOR get excluded from my packet initially because it was over 12 months old. Had to get it re-signed before the board corrections deadline. 1 Quote
BM1 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I'd make sure they have atleast 6 months left on the time as well. If you get passed over on the first board, you won't have to submit updates in that area. Most people who give you an LOR shouldnt have a problem with signing one with only an updated date. Unless you've really ticked em off since 1 Quote
adnoh61B Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 LOR's were literally the last things I had done. Although it almost cost me lol. Didn't get my SWO LOR until about 3 days before submission cut off. Quote
Lastshot Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Does the same hold true for civilians as it relates to the LOR expiration? Seems AD and civ apps have slightly different requirements. Quote
