pipedream
Got back from MEPS yesterday. BCT ship date 27 October to Ft. Jackson and my WOCS date is 04 FEB to Ft. Rucker. So basically they gave me the summer off to enjoy/prepare. Not entirely sure how we all were selected on the May board and some were given 2 weeks to ship, others 2 months, and I got 5 months? Also another thing I noticed on my "course reservation" like TachedOut said above not "orders" until the day you actually ship, listed BCT as 12 weeks. I asked my liason and he said you go home for Christmas. I said what?! He said the Army apparently just started this and is the only branch to do it so far. Bad part is it adds 2 weeks to BCT, and I guess the good part is going home for Christmas even though you are using leave that will count against you. I would prefer to just get it over with, but thats just me.
Lindsey
The Christmas exodus is nothing new. Cantankerously and I, among many others, had to do it. It's weird.

No kidding. Here I am with 10 days left as a civilian and you don't ship for 5 months from the same board. Crazy. At first I was a little in shock I was shipping so fast, but now I'm getting excited to get it all started.
Lindsey
Pipedream - I know the wait sucks, but use it to STUDY! Study PRT exercises, red phase BCT knowledge, chain of command, even 5 & 9s. 5 months will give you enough time to memorize the entire WOCSOP. You'll blow everyone away! Get real good with drill & ceremony as that is emphasized a ton here at B Co. Also know how to report to a commanding officer since we do that here often as well. Oh, and definitely don't forget to learn how to make your bed according to the WOCSOP! Dude I'm just playing. Seriously though, I do know the wait is probably frustrating since you're so excited to go. The best thing you can do is work on enjoying civilian life. In other words, take as many vacations as much as your budget will allow. Try to go abroad if you can, since once you're in that becomes very very difficult. Go on a long road trip. Keep up with PT, but there's really nothing you can study right now. If you were smart enough to get selected, you will have no issue with the stuff you learn at BCT. You'll pick it up lightyears quicker than 99% of your fellow soldiers. Don't get injured, but go out and enjoy hobbies, find new ones, go on bike rides, surf, kayak, go hiking, etc. Enjoy it! The summer is yours.
pipedream
Oh I will. I am somewhat in love with my sport bikes and a buddy of mine and I bought new 2014 Honda CBR 1000rr's back in March that I thought would sit in the garage until after WOCS, but it looks like I will get to enjoy her this summer. I have scouted out the entire process from what I can gather online and intend to be fully prepared for what to expect by the time I ship out. This time will be good for my wife as well so we can have everything mapped out for when I leave. Thanks again for the awesome amount of information handed down on this site. I feel more than prepared for what to expect, and not expect lol. Thank you! My bike and I will be sure to enjoy the summer for those guys leaving in a week!
Cantankerously
I didn't have my flight physical before the May board and now my recruiter informed me the July board is canceled? Anyone know why. Congratulations to the guys that got picked up.I'm sure it has to do with the budget and the amount of pilots the army needs right now. I asked for an earlier date when I was given at date at MEPS. As far as getting different dates from other people.....welcome to the Army. When you get to B Co there will be no rhyme or reason when or why you get dates. You'll get them, and they will change...often.

jwoft
Well I didn't make the cut for the January Board. May Board will be my second attempt. Age: 27GT/AFQT: 131/97SIFT: 70APFT: 282 Education: B.Sc. Geology 3.82 GPAFlight Physical: Completed and ApprovedWaiver: NoneLOR's: Two former professors, former manager, CW4, CW5 (ret.)Board: Never given a score. Told I received a strong recommendation from all three board members. Flight Experience: None Don't they put you in one of three categories; Selected, Qualified (S-Q), Fully Qualified, Not Selected (FQ-NS), or Not Selected, Not Competitive (NS-NC)? I also saw somewhere that they also do a point score with a maximum possible of 75. Don't know how true that last bit is though. Seems like you've "got the right stuff" at least in every other category. Any ideas on what went wrong? Sorry to hear you didn't make it, hopefully on the next one they take into account your determination. Good luck!
jwoft
There could have been a shortage of seats this month. They look like solid numbers, but if he's redoing the BN board then I'd pin my bets on that being the issue. Or weak LORs. Your numbers, minus APFT, are better than mine. Hopefully being prior service helps rather than hurts. Where can you look up the number of available slots for WOFT? Is it listed by region or just overall? Thanks in advance! jwoft
Hey guys, I am still in the beginning stages of the application process but here are my stats so far; Age: 31. GT/AFQT: 118/82. SIFT: (scheduled for October 2nd 2015). APFT: not yet administered. Education: No college, former Marine. Flight Physical: not yet administered. Waiver: None. LOR's: Senior Vice President, large private equity firm (current boss), CW4 Aviator also former 160th SOAR, Weapon System Engineer (aerial platforms) for the Navy, 1st Lieutenant US Marines former enlisted (served together in same platoon). Resume: Former 4 yrs - 1st Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Teams (FAST) USMC, 3rd Battalion 1st Marine Regiment (Personal Security Detail). Diplomatic Security, Designated Defensive Marksman (private contractor). Security Director managing a $100 million dollar asset. Business Development Consultant. Flight Experience: Informal (Civil Air Patrol). I feel like I scored low on the ASVAB (CAT) compared to most applicants... I did run out of time on one section on which I did not complete at least 5 questions. Any suggestions on improving my application?
