firepilot42 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Its probably because Louisiana is the armpit of America. Oh and have you ever stopped in Leesville? 1 Quote
I3uller Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I only spent time at Polk for JRTC and that's all I needed to know I want to stay away from there at all costs. Quote
akscott60 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Ironically enough, after my JRTC rotation, a couple dudes in my Troop really want to fly Gator. Quote

d10 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 If you're from around there and you like the area then I'm sure you'll like the post. You have to realize that most people don't want to live in rural LA. That's the only reason most people never want to be stationed there. 1 Quote
Ardo09203 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Armpit is better than a$$holeTrue, that would defiantly be California No clue why people don't like it (must be yuppie folk),guess when your born here you just get used to most of it. I assure you, show's like duck dynasty and swamp "insert whatever here" do a terrible job of portraying actual life in Louisiana. I guess it's too bad all the big money in the helicopter industry is centralized around rural Louisiana. Look's like some people will have a hard time adjusting in the event they get out and look to purse work elsewhere as a pilot. 2 Quote
firepilot42 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 For anyone else wondering, no i didn't ride to school in a pirogue. We've got buses like everywhere else. I've been asked before. Thanks TV. 1 Quote

Jester2138 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I'm from New Orleans! Not really rural Louisiana but geographically close... Quote
firepilot42 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Unfortunately I've been stuck north of Alexandria for 10 years. It's a whole other state up here. Quote

Yea, go to far north of I-10 and accents start changing and you meet some of these really storage characters that have have the guys on here afraid of Ft.Polk Quote
lee122485 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I'm kind of fond of Fort Drum and I'm from south Ga. I was there for 6 years so I guess it kind of grew on me. The summers are awesome up there. Winters can be harsh and obnoxious but if you're into winter activities then it's a prime location. Quote
Shadowlurker Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Would anyone know if there are any slots at Fort Sam and for which airframes? 1 Quote

Spiffy_cup_of_coffee Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Any Japan spots? Or is it all Korea? Quote
Thedude Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Any Japan spots? Or is it all Korea?None for 64s if that's what you're asking. Quote
13A add a 5 please Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 What OCONUS locations are there and for what air frames? I didn't know Japan was an option. Just got selected for WOFT so still have a ways to go before picking an airframe and duty station, so just curious for now. Also for places like Germany, is there just one duty station, or multiple? Anywhere else in Europe? Thanks! Quote
tangowhiskey Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 There's a very small, like company level, vip 60 unit in Japan. Germany has a few 60s left as well. Other than that it's Egypt and Korea. Quote
Thedude Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Germany still has a CAB- stationed there. 60s can go to Honduras for a year unaccompanied tour as well. Quote
Spiffy_cup_of_coffee Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 None for 64s if that's what you're asking. Hard pass for me then. 64s all the way👍 Quote
