Do most Army soldiers want aviation?

Recommended Posts

That magical golden era was called "the army air corps." :) a bit before the A-10 but hey, that's as close as it gets...

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/07/1356010/-Air-Minded-the-Army-the-A-10#

It ultimately comes down to money. If the Army has a legit CAS platform then the Air Force has to give up part of their CAS budget, and the Air Force will never do that. The CAS money pile is guarded at all cost by the Air Force and is the reason why Army Attack platforms are CCA assets.

Look, if you are serious, show some respect. That's all. You act like an ass, you get kicked in the teeth, simple. "Taking it" means jack squat if the treatment is deserved. I imagine a general apology would go a long way toward rebuilding your tattered reputation. Give it a shot...that is...if you're serious....my $0.02.

If you want to get treated like a soldier, an officer, or an adult, you must present yourself as an adult etc. Being a kid is no excuse for bad behavior, especially not when you are trying to be excepted as an equal. Disrespect is the best way to commit career suicide in the civilian world (unless you're a cast member of a reality tv show) but ESPECIALLY in the military. Decorum is of paramount importance. Respect: 3rd army value. Learn it, live it. Every doggone day.

Shindig, go....away until you mature into a different person. If your packet ever comes across my desk at a selection board I guarantee, 100% you will do great things in the Army other than as a Warrant Officer. You've advertised enough identifying personal information without me even knowing your name that you'll be easy to pick out if you ever get your act together enough to actually apply.

i have straightened up and i have apologized for some of my comments.....maybe some should apologize for calling me a t**d sandwich etc etc ...when have i ever been that nasty by saying anything close to that on this thread? it's ok if i'm called those things, but if i were to say that...oh yeah I'd get tons of back lash of course.

i dont let others tell me to do this or do that... i follow my goals and my dreams and i'm old enough to figure those out on my own. I've come on here trying to be serious and have gotten a lot of back lash but i'm truly not sure why...i'm just asking questions about woft. And for those of you who have helped me and given me advice i appreciate it ...i really do.

You do realize that the military is based on a chain of command that will always be telling you what you need to do? I don't care what rank you get to, someone will give you orders.

Second, I have not seen an apology in any of your posts that did not come with an excuse. Excuses make any apology seem half hearted, especially since we are communicating via text where emotion can't be shown easily. I do not believe in lost causes and I have seen some good things in your posts. Just the fact that you are doing research puts you above some of your peers, not a lot but some. That being said your attitude or at least the attitude displayed here will get you in more trouble than any research you can do. I will put it as my sponsor put it; the military is built on trust both up and down the chain. If you do anything to lose that trust you might as well find a new career because no one will work with you. When you inferred that you are taking this route because it is easier, or that army pilots did not stack up with the other services you lost a lot of trust. Just my .02

ok squid you misunderstood about people telling me what to do...what i meant was i don't like people telling me i can't reach my dreams and my goals... NOT that i wont follow military officers or generals orders or whoever is in my boss in the military.

squid, when i said about it being easier i wasnt trying to rip on the army... what i was trying to get at is that i didn't want to spend my entire life trying to become a pilot because from what I knew the air force and navy, etc were more involved to become a pilot because you must have a 4 yr degree etc etc ... But that was just from what I was thinking at the time... I realize that i could be wrong on that fact and if so i apologize and i should look past the easier and faster thing....however...read on...i've always liked the army and my dad was in the army. And since reading from you guys i'm starting to like army pilots more and more because they help out the ground guys.. i like that.

But also what i said about being it easy was like 40 posts ago or something...i mean i haven't been like that since...so i've changed since i've been posting and so im not sure i undersand the constant ripping on me..i just feel like you guys should let it go after a while...and when you don't like a comment of mine dont call me a t**d sandwich and stuff like that...but will i get an apology for that and some other stuff some of you have said? i know i probably wont.... but oh well

Do you guys need more proof this thread is a joke?

Or would a audio recording mailed personally be better?

While I get the sentiment, Memorial Day is not "happy." I despise that statement. I personally know way too people who were taken much too early to ever consider it a "happy" day. Somber, yes. Some thoughts of them happy, yes. A day to honor their sacrifice happy though? Not the word I would use.

I've read the thread and refrained from posting. It's not that you are a troll, Shindig. You are just too immature to know when to stop. You speak concerning that which you do not know.

UH60, you are right ... I didnt mean for it to come off that way ... It was a bad choice of words ... Memorial day should a day to reflect instead of celebrate

Are you noticing a trend, yet? Not a single thing you've said yet was taken the way "you meant". Which means to me either you ARE a troll, or are just...incomprehensibly ignorant. I suppose there's room for another option, but I don't know what it is.

If you're legit, you don't belong anywhere near an aircraft (maybe jumping out of it), at least at this juncture in your life.

Youre completely wrong ....what you are saying is 100% not true....its customary to use happy with a lot of holidays....happy thanksgiving, happy holidays, happy birthday, etc etc....so I said happy memorial day. It was completely something i said with good intentions....and if you don't believe me thats your problem.

went for my MEPS phys today and passed....so happy that I can now join if I want to. There was a small bump in the road during my phys though...when they drew blood i got a little faint and the lady at MEPS noted that in the comments. But just happy that i got another step out of the way and can continue working towards aviation
